Heavy-duty, sturdy step stool.
While the LIANTRAL Step Stool has a sturdy metal frame, the wooden board is not SOLID wood, nor does the vendor claim that it is. It seems to be a wood composite (since it does not claim to be melamine) with a gray paper veneer. However, it is pretty dense, and I have no hesitation standing on it or having my husband, who weighs about 100 lbs more than I do, stand on it for short periods of time. The veneer seems like good quality, so I see it lasting for years. The metal frame itself is heavy-duty, and the screws that come with it are made for this type of frame. I like how the smaller step “folds” inside the larger step and that on occasion, I can use it (folded up) as a (sitting) stool. This step stool is just what I was looking for, to reach totes on the higher shelves in my craft room. I made a good decision choosing this particular step stool, especially since it takes up less space folded up and has more room to stand on than a small step ladder. I recommend it.

Not recommended
This is not a truly stable step stool. This item is made out of the same thin wood as an inexpensive end table. It is neither durable nor stable, and I don’t recommend it. There is a great potential for the thin wood to split in two, and this is a safety hazard.

Small and rugged step stool
The LIANTRAL folding step stool is perfect for my needs. It is rugged and can take my weight. It allows me to reach the top of my shelves and cabinets easily. It is a great stool to have for cleaning low ceilings without the need for a step ladder.Assembly was a little challenging since the single page instructions manual was confusing and not clear. I noticed the assembly video on the product page and after watching it a couple times, I was able to assemble the stool.
