Damages Human Ears
I bought this to scare coyotes when walking my dog -- in the city -- where coyotes have been seen often in my vicinity.I tried it (no coyote) and my hearing was badly affected. First I thought I couldn't hear and then there was a ringing in my years. It took at least 5 minutes before I felt okay. Also, my dog got traumatized and with his leash on, nearly pulled me to the ground as he tried to run away. Please be aware -- it is NOT RETURNABLE. I really don't know how to dispose of it because I will never use this. I've decided to walk with a large pop-up umbrella instead -- and will buy a whistle.

Fits in pocket
Love these. Small enough that you can carry anywhere. Definitely good for peace of mind. Came with two so my husband and I can both be ready.

Easy to use.
These horns are like a security blanket for nervous campers. Ask me how I know! They are extremely loud and will scare off any unwanted wildlife and fellow campers. The cans are small (palm size) and easy to transport. These powerful horns would also be a good safety gift for college students. The small size could easily fit in a book bag. Added piece of mind for student and parent.

Loud!
Would definitely work for a bear or other animals, I don’t recommend using it around your pets or children unless it’s an emergency. It’s really loud so it could be used even in a personal protection situation.

Good idea
This year we spent some time in the San Juan as well as some other areas with dense spare populations. Last year we were in the grand Tetons and were approached by a grizzly bear with her cub. At that time we had bear spray and a firearm however, additional torrent is not a bad idea. The cans are fairly small however I like that because it makes him packable. We had a moose that started to charge us right off the trail in the high country and had little time to react as we were in the Willows in tall brush. Keep this in one hand is a pretty good idea . I haven’t tried one out yet, but I’m going too soon before we head out into the backcountry.

Haven't used them yet!
This is the sort of product that is hard to review. I carry it in my backpack bottle holder (for easy reach) especially when I go hiking/running solo on trails. It is quite small in size and doesn't weigh much either. The horn and canister were shipped separately and that is a great idea I think. It likely extends the shelf-life of the unpierced canisters.I am hoping I will not need to use it. But it is assuring to know I have some (though imperfect) defense against animals.
