I purchased these after I'd been repeatedly losing the pins on my backpack. I first used the original metal backs that came with the pins, but those broke very fast and came off easily. Then I bought the rubber backs, which were a bit stronger, but still not enough, and I lost another pin. They didn't fit every thickness of the pin and while they held some very strongly, others were loose.These metal locking clasps, however, fit all the pins I have - both the thick and thin ones. They appear to be very secure, and I haven't lost a single pin since using them. Everything is perfectly in place. In my opinion, the clasps also look a lot more elegant than other options in situations when the back of the pin is going to be visible (I have my pins on the opening flap of my backpack, so every time I open the backpack, the back of the pins is exposed). The locking mechanism is easy to use, and you can hear & feel the clasp being locked in place. Removal requires pulling on both ends, which is something easy enough to do with intent, but wouldn't randomly happen by accidental pulling on the pin. The length of the pin which the clasp covers is fixed, so some shorter pins might not have enough space to accommodate the clasp if affixed to a thick material. I have personally found that only one of all the pins I own couldn't be attached to the thick backpack flap fabric, and I attached it to the thinner fabric of the backpack pocket. I have to stress that the backpack flap is very thick; thicker than a leather jacket, for example.The fixed length which the clasp covers also means that the pins might rotate if the fabric is thin. But I find this to be a small price to pay for the safety that the clasps provide. If you don't want to lose your valuable pins, especially on things that are moved around a lot (like my aforementioned backpack flap), forget the metal butterfly clasps or the rubber backs. I haven't tried the clasps requiring a key, but I don't think I will need to - these seem very sturdy and reliable.The number was also accurate and none of them were broken.

These are great value for money and work very well. They click on well and can be removed once you get the hang of it. Very happy with these pin backs.

This product is very good quality and is great for pins - much tighter and safer than the regular metallic pin backs. None of my pins has fallen off since using these.

They stat put, not like the metal ones which sometimes come off and you lose your badge.

These came in great condition.I bought these to put on my daughters Girl Scout uniforms to keep insignias and pins on since the backs on theirs were very lose. They hold pins on much better and I no longer have to buy additional pins and insignias.These are the perfect replacements. It's definitely one of those things you don't realize how much you need until you lose one.

I keep having to replace the metal ones because they keep coming adrift.
