Work with my laptop.
Happy purchaseThe laptop I use when travelling doesn’t come with a DVD drive and I often need to read and burn DVDs. This external drive makes the job well. It’s thin and lightweight so I can carry it around with my laptop. More importantly, there is no hustle to get the discs running. I only need to plug the USB cable to my laptop and it’s ready to go. I am happy with this purchase.

Is definately not "plug and play"
I have an Acer Chromebook 15. My computer would not recognize this cd/dvd. No pop up when I plug it in.

Doesn't Work
Hooked unit up to 2 different Win10 computers. Didn't work on either. Would not register/show in Win10 on either. Tray wouldn't open. Triggered tray open using the emergency hole, and inserted a disk to see if it might read, but didn't. Removed disk. Didn't work! Being returned.Ordered a different unit on Amazon (Wsky, with over 200 reviews and 4-star rating). Was floored to see the Wsky unit is THE EXACT SAME component ... same packaging, appearance, and all. Maybe I'll get lucky with this one?

Cheap, you get what you pay for.
Mine works, just barely. It can take nearly an hour to load a cd onto my hard drive, if it works at all. Usually takes a few tries. Makes a lot of noise. Really struggles to read cds. Best burn speeds I can get are around 8x. I can't recommend it.

It works.... occassionally. Fails to read most of my DVD's
It works, but only for a handful of my DVD's. Wouldn't recommend if you want something that will actually be able to read and recognize all of your store bought disc's. Already threw it in the garbage and ordered a new one from a reputable brand.
