Average Product - Lego Technic is Much More Fun!
I wanted a couple of items for my home office as ornaments on a shelf and selected this and the Lego Wall-E to build. I am an adult and I believe this is designed for ages 9 and upwards but I'd say that the 9 year old would have to be quite advanced as the instructions in places are difficult to follow and the bits can get very fiddly. It was fun and included two tools which was a nice touch and I'd recommend sorting the pieces into piles as some are similar sizes. Despite not being that organised I completed it in a couple of hours but there are a lot of pieces which gets complicated in places to build so requires concentration, patience and dexterity.Product FeedbackThe finished product looks OK but like other reviewers, the motor is underpowered and constant loosening and tightening is required to ensure the gears and shafts do not bind together whilst building and even then, it barely moves so really you should treat this as a static build. Other build issues include my pack missing a piece which whilst not essential did mean I had to tweak the building of the rear spoiler. It requires a little "fashioning" as there are a few curves/twists which require you almost, but not quite, bend special flexible pieces to fit. The wheels and some shafts are not bolted tight but rather have little plastic/rubber sleeves to hold the pieces together and they do just move if you use the motor which means the wheel will fall off. Finally, the bits which look like black plastic in the photos are actually little pieces of material which looks rubbish compared to the photos. Overall I enjoyed the Lego build way more which is disappointing as I look fondly on Meccano and whilst it was still fun I don't think I would buy another Meccano kit.
