A pocket knife can be a tool or a means to defend yourself. If the inmates only purpose for a knife is to open boxes and widdle wood then the non locking with its “balls” removed will be just fine. However due to the nature of smuggling a knife into prison, one can assume they want to use it for defense at which point you’ll need a locking pocket knife. **Q: Can this knife be opened with one hand?** A: While it can certainly be opened with one had, the resistance of it being a slip joint is cumbersome to my fingers. My method of quick-open is just putting my left hand index left finger through the keying and opening the knife by pulling with my thumb and index finger of my right hand on the hole, it opens very easily and quickly this way, as much as any one hand open knife. I simply can't praise the smart design of this little knife enough. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing keyring EDC, but be warned - NOT flight safe (basically no blade is) *by G***E on 5 January 2025* I bought this little knife in 2021 and it's lived on my keyring ever since, coming into use whenever I've needed to open a box, cut some string or generally tackle an activity that requires a small but sharp blade. It arrived sharp, and has stayed so despite me using it on a regular basis. The resistance is good enough that you don't feel it will snap closed without warning, yet the blade remains easy enough to open and close. When closed, the knife sits comfortably on my keyring, and I really don't notice the size or weight of it, so it's a permanent feature. Or was, until a recent flight where a member of the security team noticed it, and in particular the sharpness of the blade, and promptly took it off me. I've been on multiple flights in the last few years - probably over a dozen - and it's never been flagged up before now, but this time I was subject to a rigorous bag search - and they went through everything and took this knife, and a small screwdriver, off me. As such, I can only conclude that previous passages through airports have been by luck that no one has noticed the knife (as it is rather small), and if someone happens to spot it when going through security, you'll lose it. Obviously if you 'check it' in your main luggage (if you have any) then you'll have no such problems. Will I replace this knife? Yes. It's expensive, but it's worth it.
