The Lap King Lap Desk - Navy Blue - The Ultimate Lap Desk

Second one of these for us -- one red, one blue. Originally bought for a road trip, but discovered them a great asset for using a tablet while watching tv. (Don't know why we even bother with the tv anymore!) When we're not take trips in the car, these babies are in the living room. Tables are pretty steady on these because of the grip capability of the tablet covers. However, smooth items tend to slide around on them. My plan is to disconnect the pillow and use the black top as a template for custom cutting shelf liner material with a rubbery texture to lay on it to keep thing from slipping around. Will trim it to fit the smooth side of the black tray. This should serve us well for eats on the road. Whoever inherits the front passenger seat will be in charge of serving up the food. We'll see if the plan works. The pillow comes off to use as a headrest. The pillow cover has a zipper that will allow for removing and laundering.

This desk stays on my lap, is comfortable, and keeps both the laptop and my lap cool. BUT, serious design flaw, the snaps that hold the cushion on are exactly where one might rest their arms! Did they not test this? That said, it is still a pretty good item otherwise, and especially for the money. I'm going to try a gel wrist rest along the front of the desk and hope that covers things sufficiently enough that I no longer have snaps digging into my arms as I type.

This lap desk looks nice on the photo, but the hard plastic surface is not made to hold the laptop in place. There is no rubber which would allow the laptop to grip and not slip - my laptop slips around, if the Lap King is not on a flat surface. It also says that the surface helps the laptop stay cool, which I have found to be untrue. Spend your money on something else.

I really wanted to like this but that wasn't in the stars. The lap part doesn't have enough filling to raise it up very much and makes it very slippery. The top is also fairly smooth despite the raised circles for air flow. The elastic bands that keep the lap cushion attached to the frame are really loose and frequently pop off.It was disappointing when I first started using it but meh no big deal right? Wrong. remember the low amount of filling and slippery surface? This means that when you set it down on a flat surface,when the filler settles it can start to slant. That, plus the smooth top, means your brand new laptop crashes to the floor. Even when you wait for it to settle before walking away, if a small pet or goodness forbid another human sits down, boom, there it goes.When I go to stand up, I move the laptop off of the lap desk and place it on the couch. I end up using it on top of a pillow. The only reason it is still in use is because I need something with more airflow than a pillow and I feel bad about the waste of money.It would be really helpful if it had some sort of flip up tabs on the sides and back to prevent slippage.The upside is it is easy to clean and I am good at fixing computers.

I ordered this one year ago today and have used it daily for about 10 months of that time with my 14" laptop on my lap for 1-2 hour/day. The ridged surface was too slippery to use and made the laptop slide around too easily. The flat surface allowed the laptops feet to grip better and slide much less so it's what I've used. The raised edge is useful to help stop it if it does slide - more so on the flat side. The raised ridge can bite and become irritating after awhile in one position but is remedied by shifting hand/wrist position whenever it starts to become a distraction. A rubber top or coating around the ridge would make a better design. About 2 month ago the microfiller started noticeably losing its loft and I had to shift the filler so that the 1/4" lip wouldn't bite into my legs. It has now reached the point where the bottom ridges dig into my legs anyway and becomes slightly painful. I read that they use microbeads as a filler. That keeps the bag light but apparently they compress and deteriorate after awhile. The inner bag is sealed and can't be refilled without cutting and resewing. I plan on looking for more filler at a craft store and hopefully restuffing it as I like it overall. I deducted one star for the hard raised lip and one for the too rapid deterioration of the fill material.

I was hesitant when purchasing this because there are so many different lap top desks on the market. I did a lot of searching through product reviews, and finally decided to purchase this product. The price was what caught my attention.I was looking for something that could allow my 17" laptop to comfortably stay positioned on my bed, or sofa, or in my lap, while keeping the heat away from me. This does the trick. I have used both sides of it and I love it. It has been the only lap top desk that has fit my needs, and I am very glad I purchased this. It sits perfectly on my bed..there are grippers on the lap top desk side of the platform which keep it from moving around. It easily supports my large laptop, and keeps the heat away from me, while allowing me to surf the web or game for hours comfortably.It doesn't have any fancy gadgets, but I wasn't looking for this. All in all, based on the description of the product I would give this a 5/5 star rating. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this for anybody looking for a versatile lap top desk for a very fair price!

Bought this to throw on the couch as a little drink/snack table. We have one of those big sectional couches and you often end up without somewhere to set a drink or whatever. It works pretty well. Pretty smart the way it's a several-in-one device (flip the tray from bumpy to smooth, or just use it as a pillow), though I only use it as one. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the smooth side of the table is too smooth. I had to make a little cover for it out of that rubbery stuff you can line cabinets with so my drink didn't slide around. Now it works great.

The blue cushion is comfortable but my computer slides right off either side of this. I have a 17inch monitor and there is no traction even with the little black dots.
