These lightweight and sturdy stoneware bowls will provide a striking and one-of-a-kind accent to the dinnerware in any home or event. The glaze, which we call Pluie Dans La Nuit ("rain in the night" in French), is composed of speckled dark blue points on a grey-blue base. The bowls are made from natural stoneware clay and a nontoxic reactive glaze finish. They have an extremely low porosity (0.3%), which helps prevent chipping and cracking. Perfect Dimensions The bowls are 6" in diameter and 3" tall with a modern angled-line triangular profile. They hold approximately 16 ounces (2 cups) when filled to the brim. The dimensions are perfect for everyday use or for entertaining on special occasions with soups, cereals, ice cream, fruit, rice, etc. The size also works well as a decorative snack, nuts, or candy dish. Dishwasher, Oven, and Microwave Safe The bowls are dishwasher safe, but you will also find that they can easily be cleaned by hand. Avoid using abrasive cleaners (steel wool, steel wire scrubbers, etc.). They are oven safe to 535 degrees Fahrenheit (280 degrees Celsius). As with all ceramic and glass dinnerware (including earthenware, stoneware, porcelain, and Pyrex), extreme thermal shocks of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) should be avoided. That is, they should not be subjected to extreme increases or decreases in temperature, when, for example, placed directly in the oven from the refrigerator or freezer, placed directly on a stove, or removed from a hot oven and placed on a wet countertop.
