100 Animal Cookies: A Super-Cute Menagerie to Decorate Step-by-Step

One of the best cookbooks I have seen. The level of detail and description is second to none and one of the best I have ever come across. If you are new to the cookie game or someone who has made batches for years, I guarantee this book will give you some ideas you have never thought of.

I love this book!! I own several books on cookie decorating and this one is a good one to own. It has some cleaver decorating ideas and techniques that can be used on any cookie shape(not just animals). I particular found the information on making animal prints with royal icing, and making royal icing transfers helpful. I liked how the author provided templates for eyes, noses, beaks, etc., and explained how to pipe royal icingto achieve these details.I also loved how the author shows how to use a cookie cutter and icing to create a cookie design that is totally different than the obvious cutter shape. For example, she used a house shaped cookie cutter to create a cookie of a Penguin wearing a hat. An Ice Cream Sundae shaped cutter was used to create a Polar Bear. And, a Bus shaped cookie cutter was used to create the faces of a Zebra, Hippo, and Tiger. I found this information invaluable! It helped me to "look outside the box" and "find" images within cookie cutters that I never noticed before. This insight inspired me to use the cookie cutters I already own, and fashion them into designs that I do not have. I no longer need to have a cookie cutter for every design I want to make!The book is filled with very bright colored images, and detailed, simple to follow instructions. I highly recommend this book for a beginner to intermediate skill level Decorator.

I was asked to bake a batch of decorated animal cookies as special award items for a children program. I studied this book, and finally made a batch for the first time of my life, jelly fish. Everyone loved how lovely and cute they looked. The kids just swallowed them with a smile. I found a yummy butter cookie recipe online as the cookie base. The cookie recipes are not the main topic of this book. The designs and instructions were great.

This is good book for beginners. Gives the very basic technique to create animal designs. Good value for what I paid for it.

Great photos and descriptions. The only problem I have is you don’t say where to get the exact cookie cutter(s) being used. There’s a list in the back of sites, but I have to go to each one to see if they have what I’m looking for!

I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to spruce up on their baking creativity for their little ones. It has so far been a fantastic read and I will incorporate its teachings into all of my future baking activities when I want to be extra special for whom I'm baking.

It's a cute little book and for $4 can't beat the price. It's definitely more suited for someone new to royal icing cookies or great for a child. It would actually make a great gift for a newbie along with some cookie supplies! Easy to follow, very basic designs. If you already know how to decorate, especially more elaborate creations this probably isn't for you.

Supper cute ideas for cookie decorating. The book is nice quality and instructions are very good. I recommend this for lots of ideas.

This book totally inspired me to think outside the box with my cookie cutters and I made the cutest puppies and kittens out of what was originally a snowman cookie cutter. The pics and instructions are clear with some super cute ideas
