Unputdownable!
I highly recommend this book, really. One always hears about the addicts, but rarely does one get a chance to read such an honest, open documentation of what falling in to an addiction, and the road then to recovery, looks like. Or how scarily easy it is to get hooked. It really helps that Arjun Nath has an absolutely brilliant way with words, you keep wanting to put the book down but just can't! God bless the likes of Doc, and all the people strong enough to give life a second chance. You don't need to know the world of drugs to read this book- but you finish feeling happy, hopeful and glad that there are still good people in the world. A must read, and I hope the author writes again soon!

A God-honest attempt
How do you write a horror story that is concomitantly one of finding God? This book is a God-honest attempt at that. It's said religion is for those who wish to avoid hell, and spirituality for those who've been there. This book pertains to a spiritual quest, and twice over; once, for the story it tells, and, secondly, for the actual act of it being written. While the former would've been the hard bit, I hope, for the author's sake, latter was the gift of a Kundalini shock, which the perspicuous writing hints at.Mark of a good book is when catharsis is delivered for the reader even before the end of all given pages in a book; when, if the book ended half-way through itself, without the rest of the story following, it would still be whole. Arjun achieves something like that on page 109 of the 278 pages allotted by fate. Imagine.Shortcomings require acknowledgement as well. Regrettably, Arjun trades authenticity & creativity as he employs gadgets of the English language long known & used in the (adjacent) genre: in the usage of cramped swear-words for conveying essence of situations involving anger; The-Use-of-Capital-Letters for conveying self-importance of delusional thought. I expected more insights, no, more & newer tools of the English language itself from the author. His endearing sensitivity and sharp observation skills shine through nonetheless, as he paints images from the strange-to-most world he was an inhabitant of: blue pulse of audio, raw red hurt, and more...In the end, a treatise such as this entails several re-reads, for the hyper-world Arjun traversed needs more investigation (a hint on page 178). What he has brought back for us is precious for society as a whole, for what rests beneath this story of tragedy, pain, and hope is really a matrix of emotions & relationships we all experience, some more acutely than others, some more bravely than others.

Recommend read.
Well written memoir of recovery and experience. To understand what you haven't been through is very difficult but Arjun's expression of his journey takes you through it all so well. You live on Land and reinforce the the truth that recovery is possible albeit difficult.Someone needed to document Doc's uniqueness and Arjun has done it very well. Doc's a wonderful example of what human spirit can achieve, such greatness and empathy.I could just hug him!It is very difficult to bare your soul to the world but it is important too. You can only lead by example. Well done, Arjun. I hope you continue writing.

I was very excited for this but....
It had an appeal to it, due the authors attention to details but the story telling is stale and not upto the mark. I missed the connection which the author started off with... It doesn't add up as a good story to tell... The first chapters are very well written

Deeply moving first-person narrative of addiction
It's a movie waiting to be made... with the beautiful mix of a first-person narrative of addiction, tragedy, wry humour and finally hope. It's ironic that the Junkie Journals part of the book were an after-thought... as I found it to be deeply moving in it's raw and razor sharp prose; the biography could have done with better editing... but well worth a read nevertheless!
