Not an Android TV, don't buy to watch Amazon Prime
TL;DR:- Incomplete Android OS (Kevin calls this "Android based" not "Android TV")- No Google Play Store and bundled apps are limited and outdated- Amazon Prime Video is not officially supported and the app is unusable- No working remote app, no alternative for entering text input- Lack of customizations for the TV or AndroidIf you are considering this because of its Android OS, especially to consume Amazon Prime, then don't even think about it. Amazon Prime Video doesn't support this brand (confirmed by calling their support) and the Prime app Kevin distributes is unusable. I bought it for my in-laws without researching finer details (because of the high user rating here), as they wanted a smart TV with Prime, and now I am having to save my face seeing how pathetic Prime app is on this. :(For the basic TV functionality, I give it 4 stars, especially for the price, but for the smart TV functionality, even 2 stars is too much (read on for details).Though I bought it for my in-laws I was physically there and set it up myself. First of all, the basic TV functionality is good. The display is nice and good enough for the casual viewing. The viewing angle is ok. Though there is some fading of colors when moving away from the center it is fine for the price. It is light enough for one person to handle it. It comes with Vesa mount holes, so I was able to transfer the wall-mounting plate from the existing smaller TV onto this and fit it to the existing wall mount myself. The TV shipped with a cheap wall mounting bracket that looked non-trivial to work with, so if not for the wall mounting bracket, we would have had to wait for the company installation (which I am not sure even available considering that it is a small town). To begin with, I fixed the stand and only after doing basic testing of the TV did I mount it on the wall. The stands are of reasonable quality and the screws tighten well, they give good stability without being large.Remote works well and doesn't look very cheaply made. Kevin couldn't afford to bundle cheap batteries so be ready with a couple of AAA batteries. There is a red led at the front that blinks when remote is pressed (for feedback). It is an IR remote, not bluetooth based, which is expected as the TV has no bluetooth. This means that the remote needs to be pointed to the TV and nothing should be blocking the IR sensor. Cold startup takes about 30 to 40s but subsequent screen on takes much less, about 5 to 10s. Remote is quite cumbersome with many icons not easy to identify. It got worse because they don't match what the manual describes (see the attached photo). I had to explore the buttons and then map them to the respective buttons mentioned in the manual before training my in-laws. This would have been almost impossible to do all by themselves. Manual given is not properly customized for this model. It talks about colour coded keys, but there is no such thing. Also, the installation steps given is for a different bracket style, not the one it came with. There is no visual identification of the parts and screws, e.g., there was a rod in it and I have no idea what it is meant for. The video and sound customizations are quite limited. There are a few pre-canned options and you can't adjust brightness, contrast, color etc. that are normally found even in a 30 year old TV.Rest of my review is about the smart TV part of it it. A smart TV is all about apps and that is where it is very weak. It comes with Android alright, but it is not the "Android TV" OS that Google certifies. There is a huge difference between Android (like the one in phones) and Android TV. What comes with this TV is a customized trimmed down version of mobile Android with a custom launcher suitable for TV, similar to the cheap Android TV boxes that come from China. Here are some of the drawbacks:- No access to Google Play Store. The TVStore that it comes with is a custom store (probably hosted by Kevin) with a subset of apps and the list is quite small. E.g., none of the Android TV games are available.- Google Android TV remote app will not even recognize this TV as corresponding services are not bundled on. I tried installing the server apk, but it didn't help.- The apps that are available on the TVStore are either too old or not designed to run on TV, the most disappointing one being Amazon Prime.- Amazon Prime that gets installed from TVStore is horrendous as you can't use it without switching to the mouse mode. I immediately scoffed at the idea of training my FIL and it would have been next to impossible to use for my MIL. After I downloaded the latest apk and updated it from a USB stick, it worked better, but there were still some focus issues for selecting some items and we still need mouse mode to select some menu options (though these are not frequently accessed). I then installed the TV version of Prime (both coexist), but nothing plays using this version (though navigation works well). I called Prime Video support but they told me that Kevin is not in their supported brands and so they can't help me. You can't even use Prime Video from browser. I think Kevin couldn't get the TV version of the app to work since they don't have official Amazon support and that is why they are distributing a Mobile version that requires mouse.- I noticed that Hot Star interface is also different and less usable than what I am familiar with on my Fire TV stick (which is also a version of Android).- YouTube app is also probably too old, it is not automatically detected by the latest YouTube app on my phone, but I was able to manually link with YouTube app on both Android and iOS using a code that is generated by the app on the TV. I could then play a selected video from mobile phone on to the TV. The app does take very long to startup.- No support for Chromecast. It comes with something called EShare, but it is not compatible with those apps that already support Chromecast. EShare is terrible, it stops working after a few minutes and you have to restart the TV to get it to work again. EShare is the only remote application that works with it, but it is not stable. The other remote apps that I tried are the Google Android TV Remote and CetusPlay and both didn't work. My FIL has a bluetooth keyboard, but since this doesn't come with bluetooth, I was left with no option but the IR remote to enter text, which was painful. I will buy a USB BT receiver and see if it gets recognized so that I can use a physical BT keyboard with it.- The launcher is not customizable. I can't remove icons that I don't want to use (e.g., I can't remove Netflix icon). Focus is also not clearly distinguishable, especially for older people.- Apps exit every time home is pressed. This makes it painful for apps like YouTube that take a long time to start.- The OS seems quite heavy with about 60% of the RAM consumed though nothing is running (and optimized), see the picture. This means, there is no point of trying to install any heavy service such as Google Play Services which would be required to install Google Play Store.- Kevin has hidden away most of the Android settings.

Excellent TV VIDEO & AUDIO , WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE !!
Anybody buying this, first call them at their customer service toll free number. You will realise these r a bunch of shameless, uninterested people running the customer service. To start with, I had bought a KN40S in October2018, just impressed with that "Made In India" tag. All hell came loose, after the day it was delivered, prompt delivery by Amazon.Tried calling customer care for installation, just a busy tone welcomed me for 6 days. I had to install my TV by a Unilet person. All their pre-installed apps are trial versions which work for max 1 month. I try to update from playstore , end up getting message that says "This device is not compatible for update". So I installed Smart YouTube apk file for Android TV through USB. It worked for 1.5 years. Now it too stopped working. No updates are working even through USB now , it says internal storage low, when I have not installed any other app apart from pre-installed ones.I have emailed to their customer care [email protected] and [email protected]. No response from them even after 2 months.Such a worst customer service. I just feel now I should have settled with any Chinese product like Mi than this crap. Excellent Video and Audio Quality. But, very poor Smart features and even worse Customer Service.Rethink before Shopping.

Not great but ok as a secondary TV for the price
While the TV comes with loads of features for a cheap TV, usability is limited. As a Smart TV it is very difficult to navigate through menus. You need to keep swapping through mouse and keyboard. Mouse is moved through navigation keys which is extremely slow and frustrating. On screen keyboard is not available unless you navigate with the mouse to the text control and then press OK. Unfortunately no Android TV remote application works to control from phone. So you are left with spending another Rs.1000 to buy the official remote, which I am not sure will work. Netflix says it needs to upgrade, but does not support the OS. The company really needs to upgrade their Android OS.Picture quality is not great. But for the price you pay it is ok.Sound quality is abysmal. Need to use external sound systems. If this is your first TV, then steer clear from buying this. If this is your secondary TV then it is ok for the price you pay.Update: I found out that EZshare server comes as an app installed in the TV. It has client app for Android and iPad. While screen sharing has issues of freezing, the app as a remote feature which works very well. If you are using as a Smart TV then this app is a must to seamlessly control your TV.
