What are the 8 mode presets? I can not find anything online or in the instructions

It's different modes. Gives different acoustic sound. It's not necessary unless you're using a hi tech powered system that will still push give you the desired output. Other than that I just keep it on 0 so I get the real sound from the amplified system.

It says range is 200 feet direct line of site. Does that mean the person using the mic must be in the same room as the receiver at all times?

Environment & antenna location always dictate this issue with my set up. I relocated the antenna using 3' jumpers to the front of my rack and improved the range to about 100' feet but if trying to go thru walls or dense crowds I had drop out on 1 or 2 of the mics. They have worked thru glass but for the most part line of site means exactly what it says.

Does it come with 4 mics?

Yes, the version I ordered has 6 Mics and it came with all 6 Mics.
