Can he save his best friend and her baby?
Rogue is book #1 in the (Seal Team: Disavowed) series. The first book I have read by Ms. Altom. About an elite group of Seals who were disbanded by the orginization. They're no longer Seals, serving their country, but serving individuals who find themselves in need of a personal warrior. The first in the series starts with Nash Adamson and Maisey Blake. Full of intrigue, danger and drama. With the most notoriously eveil men (characters) I have ever seen in a book. Maisey's 'not even ex' Vincente Rodriguez wanted to take Maisey's (ok, their baby) from her, then kill her as soon as the baby boy was born. I admit I had a hard time with the eating of the snake. I am a sucker for young love/ Bff's to lovers stories, so I LOVED Nash and Maisey. I liked that Ms. Altom showed us their friendship via flashbacks. Nice, lighter moments from all the edge of your seat adventure and drama.. I absolutely adored Nash with little baby Joe. I look forward to her next book, Outcast.Disavowed Navy Seal Nash Adamson finds himself rescuing not just anyone. But his very pregnant Bff. His first love. First time. First everything. Who dumped him after High School because she didn't want to be a Navy wife. Now on the run through the Florida wilderness. Trying to escape, not only Vincente and all of his goons, but alligators and poisonous snakes. They find themselves remembering their close past. But Nash can't get over the loss of his wife and his own son. He's not about to lose another woman and baby boy he loves. Will his love for his best friend help him to move on?To have the family he's always wanted? That is, if they all survive.

I loved this exciting, action-packed adventure.
I can’t imagine how Maisey felt when she found out that her husband was already married! Then to learn that the only reason he wanted her was to have a baby because his wife couldn’t conceive. After the baby was born, Maisey wasn’t needed so she would be killed.Lucky for Maisey, her mother suspected something was wrong so she called ex-Navy SEAL and life-long friend Nash Adamson to find Maisey. Of course, he agreed to bring her home. Nash knew this would be a hard rescue mission for him because he and Maisey had been so close when they were younger. Actually, she had turned him down when he proposed after high school because she didn’t want to be a military wife. Nash had moved on and married. But his life had not been easy. He had lost his wife and son but couldn’t get his head around the fact that they are gone so he hasn’t been working with the team for about a year. He planned this rescue on his own. Not an easy job. Especially running through the Everglades with an 8-months pregnant woman and her ex’s hired guns trying to kill them. Well, kill him. She had to be kept alive until she had the baby.I loved the way this book showed SEALs to be so capable. They handled terrifying but exciting situations quickly and efficiently. What a horrible ordeal Maisey went through to get away from her ex. She was a bit naive so it was hard for her to accept the despicable man he was since he had been so charming before they were ‘married’.This was an exciting, action-packed adventure. I liked the romance and flash-backs showing Maisey and Nash as children and teens. It let us see the relationship this pair had all their lives.I really liked this story and recommend it if you like romantic suspense with lots of action.

Nash and Maisey
This is an exciting action packed adventure. I read it in one sitting and was on the edge of my seat. We have an ex Navy Seal trying to rescue his very pregnant high school sweetheart from her mobster ex. They are on the run through the Everglades battling bugs, alligators, bad guys and snakes. Oh yeah and she’s in labor. Both have unresolved feelings from past relationships and the feelings that crop up are confusing the whole situation. This is the first book in the series and I’ll definitely be reading more.

Tight!
Tight story. Tight situations. Tight team. Non stop action. Excellent pacing. Kept me up all night, until I finshed it. Great job, Ms Altom.

Rogue (Seal Team: Disavowed Book 1)
Maisey and her unborn child could die at the hands of her psychopath ex if she makes a wrong move.Vicente Rodriguez is an untouchable drug king of south Florida who wooed Maisey into believing their whirlwind romance was the fairy tale she'd searched for her whole life to find. She couldn't wait to marry him when she found out she was pregnant. Her idyllic life is shattered when she witnesses her beloved murder in cold blood, and discovers he's already married to a woman who can't conceive. She tried going to the police, but found herself locked in a gilded cage. Vicente plans to keep her alive long enough for the birth of his son, and then he wants her dead. When Nash Adamson, Navy Seal and Maisey's high school sweetheart attempts a middle-of-the-night solo rescue at Vicente's remote compound, the mission goes horribly wrong. Nash is left with no choice but to hide in the Everglades, running from Vicente's trigger-happy hired guns with an eight months pregnant woman he's fought years to forget. When the exertion and stress sends Maisey into early labor, clock is ticking for Nash to save her and her child from not just lethal swamp creatures, but also the man who wants her dead.

Romantic thriller (ish)
I am struggling to provide a fair review for this book, I initially thought to award two stars but changed my mind and gave three.Plot spoiler alert. The story is as advertised in the blurb, but there is no meat on the bones. FL gets taken in by a drug lord who wants a child from her. Old first love comes to the rescue. Girl fights rescue despite being held captive. Hero, former SEAL with not only the months of training required for the position but almost a decade of action suddenly makes every mistake he possibly could during their escape through the Everglades. Seriously? Like he's not going to ensure his SERE training keeps them safe? Like he's suddenly forgotten the basics of escape and evade? Then there's the whole concept of his lost wife and baby, no mention of when they died in a bit of a muddle of a backstory timeline. Then we have to believe he's suddenly over his loss and now wants his first love and her baby.If the plotline had been worked more thoroughly, if this man, who the U.S. government has invested a fortune in training didn't turn into an inept bungling idiot and if the FL wasn't such a whining and self pitying not to mention self absorbed, well maybe the book would have been more enjoyable. As it stands I couldn't suspend belief that far.The characterisation is wooden, the only character I cared about was the baby and he doesn't speak a word. The character development didn't happen, I was no closer to either of them by the end of the book than I was at the beginning. There are some grammatical and editorial errors that irritated but didn't kill the book. There are no sex scenes and I can't recall any swearing.I gave three stars because the book tries hard and if it had been taken in hand by a good editor it could have been so much better. As it is the writing style is a little clumsy with the spoken and internal dialogue often getting a bit mixed, plus, the formatting is awful with an awful lot of sentences taking a few line breaks before the last few words suddenly appear. It makes for a disjointed read.I don't think I will be purchasing more by this author.

A great introduction to the series.
A fast moving plot with an engaging couple. I thoroughly enjoyed their romance. There is a strong sense of danger alongside a heart-warming reunion of childhood sweethearts. A great introduction to the series. I would like to read more.
