Good for their price however the design doesnt support true balance, which I understand is impossible in this price range. I have flat feet and therefore a significant pronation one my feet when running, there shoes are great at supporting this however they lack the counter support that whether is be via a support strap secured at the tongue or better outer foot support. Would I recommend these to a friend with some pronation, possibly would I purchase again (sever pronation), likely not.

Side supports too tight
Initially the shoes seem to fit well and of good quality. However, after about 2miles i noticed that the shoes were pinching the insides of my feet, causing discomfort. I decided to walk them in for a couple of days before doing a longer run. I went for a 6 mile run and the side supports caused blisters and bleeding on the same spots on my feet. Unless these shoes were a faulty pair, they are not fit for purpose and can definately not be used for running see photos)I am a bit dissapointed as Asics has always been a reliable brand.I would still recommend Asics for running, however, I would advise to stay away from the gt series shoe.

Faulty after 100 miles
After 100 miles these shoes showed excessive wear on the right shoe, you can see the wear on one shoe in the picture. I've used Asics for twenty years so I contacted Asics twice re warranty and they never gave as much as an acknowledgement, time for a change in brand, thanks Asics

Not my first GTs.
Having had several Asics GT trainers in the past, I broadly knew what I would get. These "GT-1000 5" trainers seem a little more narrow than others I've had, but not so that it affects the performance. The support, stability, and overall comfort is very good in my opinion, and they do not seem to be too heavy. Overall very good and would buy again.

As good as anything at any price for the everyday runner
This range of shoes continues to impress both for regular running and for everyday wear. Featuring an impressively neutral feel at any pace. Always worth the price. Maybe try a fitting at your local independent running store and nudge them for an introductory discount?

Comfy but feel weird around the toe area as if the mesh line ends too close to my toes!
These asics running shoes are comfy but they feel very odd around my big toe. One thing I hate is if my toe eventually pokes through the mesh top due to wear and tear. This pair feels as though it could happen sooner rather than later. They have loosened out since I first got them.

Excellent shoes
Used Asics years many years and always found them to be good.This model appears slightly tighter than my previous ones but that is likely to be down to being new.Foot gait control is good and the cushioning reminds you that they should have been changed earlier so very comfortable on impact.If only the years could wind back to get full use of them.If i am lucky and need another pair it will be the update version of these.Recommended.Arrived quickly and well packaged.
