Avevo confrontato diverse opzioni da parte di altre aziende, con costi sicuramente maggiori, soprattutto legati ai vincoli degli abbonamenti e alla fine ho scelto il Motorola Defy. Il Mototola Defy dopo aver sottoscritto un abbonamento con Bullitt (l'unica azienda a fornire un servizio di messaggistica a costo accettabile a mio parere) ci permette tramite l'app proprietaria di effettuare il setting del device, che puo' funzionare sia stand alone che collegato ad uno smartphone tramite bluetooth. Nel primo caso potremo inviare un messaggio di "checkin" con coordinate e messaggio preimpostato ad un nostro contatto o utilizzare la funziona SOS, che oltre ad allertare una sala operativa attiva 24/7 inviare la richiesta ad due nostri contatti scelti durante la fase di setting. Utilizzato unitamente ad uno smartphone permette le opzioni elencate precedentemente e di inviare messaggi satellitari a qualsiasi contatto presente in rubrica, in parole povere il messaggio viene convertito in sms qualora l'interlocutore non abbia l'app Bullitt Messenger installata e dunque generando una comunicazione ad una via. Se l'interlocutore ha l'app installata potra' anche rispondere a carico nostro. Testato in un paio di uscite ha agganciato subito i satelliti ed inviato i messaggi quasi in tempo reale (provato con cellulare offline e messaggio satellitare verso uno smartphone vicino). For the low cost and monthly plan it's total peace of mind. Living in a rural area with occasional power outages and terrible cell signal, especially when out on adventures, this is such an easy way to stay in touch with people. W zestawie znajduje się kod na darmową, roczną subskrypcję podstawową Bullitt satelitte Messenger. Trochę problemu sprawia sparowanie komunikatora z telefonem, trzeba je powtarzać kilkukrotnie, ale potem wszystko działa super.
