I took a chance on ordering this espresso machine detergent instead of the brand leader, which is more expensive. As I suspected, espresso machine cleaner is pretty much the same as old fashioned dishwasher powder. Dissolved in hot water, this Puly powder quickly removed built-up deposits from my portafilter. A bit of light rubbing brought it back to shining almost like new. I used a few grams in the blind portafilter basket for back flushing, which blew out plenty of grime in the froth. This powder is very strong, so it took quite a bit of flushing to clear it through. I could probably just use two grams next time. As far as I can tell, this powder works just as well as the well known brand leader, but is cheaper so I have no hesitation in recommending it.
