Good value
I have used this grip with my Z8 for a couple of weeks. Unlike some of the reviews I paid for it and actually used it on the camera. It seems to fully function with the camera. My Z8 just runs through batteries, the grip allows me to use two batteries at a time to extend run time. I am using Kastar batteries. Of course, the battery pack adds to the weight. I think the battery grip is a good value. It could be sturdier, but as they say, "you get what you pay for." As of this writing I have mixed feelings about the remote. It works pretty good. I rarely rate anything 5 stars. Considering the price, I am satisfied.

This just plain works with my Z8
I had ordered the Vello grip for the Z8 , I thought maybe I just had a bad grip, after checking out my issue, "Losing battery connection" turns out this is a common problem with the Vello Z8 grip. Too Bad cause all my other Vello grips never had a problem.. Anyway I did notice you have to really screw the grip really tight to get connection but when you do, you wont lose it....win-win

BUYERS BE AWARE.
Please! please! do not buy it. Don't buy this battery grip. It doesn't work. I stop using it 3 months ago because anytime I use it, I gets a massage that battery power is low and to replace battery even though the batteries are 100%. if I remove the battery grip and use the same batteries in the battery grip they work well without any issues. THE SAD PART OF IT IS THAT THE CAMERA WILL NOT WORK UNTIL YOU TURN THE CAMERA OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. COULD YOU IMAGIN IF YOU ARE SHOOTING A WEDDING OR THE CAMERA STOP WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF RING EXCHANGE? I don't write negative review but I don't want any photographer to experience the same issue. save some money and buy the original battery grip from Nikon. I have used newer products before they are fantastic and work well, but this one is not working for me. unfortunately I can't return it because it has pass return time.

Good enough for my needs
I got this for the extra battery capacity on the Z8 for when I want to shoot long exposures. It is perfect for me. I have not yet used the remote but it worked when i tested it. I have a different remote that I prefer using. Overall, I am very happy and would recommend it.

Excellent alternative to Nikon's OEM battery grip at a great savings.
Neewer is fast becoming the go-to manufacturer of the highest quality photographic accessories and this MB-N12 is no exception. It provides a solid ergonomic grip on your Nikon Z8 and gives you extended run-time using the included batteries and charger. You don't need to buy Nikon's MB-N12 at a much higher price when this Neewer battery grip provides the say conveniences for less. Use the savings towards a new lens instead.

Nice Utility for the Z8 but doesn't quite match the look
One of the shortfalls of the Nikon Z8 compared to the D850 is battery life. I used my D850 for years, and never really had to worry about the battery. The Z8 is definitely different - since you can only get about 20% of the shots as the D850 ... battery life becomes a much bigger issue. The simple solution is to just buy a 2nd (and 3rd) battery... but a battery grip also serves it's purpose.Notes-- The Neewer battery holds a second battery, so it effectively doubles your capacity and will allow you nearly 800 shots (still well short of the D850's 1800).- Some people love the feel of a camera with a battery grip, while others find it too bulky... I am in the latter category. I can probably get used to it, but I don't love the extra bulk- The biggest issue I have with the Neewer grip is that it doesn't match the Z8. Don't get me wrong... they are both black, and from 8 feet away, no one will ever know. However, the materials used in the battery grip (plastic) are well short of the finish of the Z8. Some people may not care... while for others, it might be a deal killer. Personally, I prefer functionality over aesthetics.- Speaking of functionality - the Neewer grip really does offer some nice upgrades. It gives you a remote shutter (with remote). The ability to charge your batteries directly in the camera using a USB C power source. I am sure you understand the usefulness of a remote shutter (You will either want one.. or not), but the ability to charge in camera with a USB C is actually very helpful. It means that you can leave your Nikon charger at home... AND... you have the ability to charge from a power bank.

A great companion to my Z8
NEEWER MB-N12 Replacement Vertical Battery Grip for Nikon Z8 with 2 Pack EN-EL15c 2400mAh Replacement Batteries & USB Dual Channel Charger Set, Hot Swappable Vertical Shooting Extended PowerThis is a great grip for the z8. It has a cohesive look to the camera and feels like a good quality piece of gear. It feels robust and I trust its attachment even with heavy lenses like the Z 50 F1.2 S. All controls function well and it can use a wider variety of batteries than the camera itself which prefers first party batteries. You can even charge them in the grip itself a nice feature. The texture is inline with the rest of the camera body and the feel overall is really good. I love the extra room as I have bigger hands and it for sure makes it easier to hold the camera with heavier lenses. This is a great grip and I am grateful to have it. I have had other NEEWER grips on other cameras and they have always served me well. I recommend taking a good look at this if you are in the market for a solid battery grip.

Battery charger defect.
With the two batteries and the bulk of the grip it’s much heavier and feels too big in the hands. If you have very large hands you will probably be ok. The battery charger however stopped charging dual batteries. Only one works now after a couple charges. Blinks red when two batteries are installed on charger.
