This was minimal money but the worst waste of $. It comes to you without any instructions except a 3x4 piece of paper that doesn't even provide instructions how to measure levels. It would require you to do lots of research to determine your mmol level and whether you're in ketosis.

No where in the many books on Keto that I have read does it explain which number measures ketones. Also the breather piece has fallen off and I cannot find it, so now I am unable to properly use. A little more info on how to use it to measure ketones would be a great help to those of us new to the keto way of life. For these reasons I am sorry to lower my rating.

This product was working great until one day, it just stopped working. I am happy to say that I was able to get a replacement from the seller. It took a few months, but I did get it and I am happy about that!

There are three types of ketone bodies produced from ketosis: acetone (what this device measures), acetoacetic acid (AcAc), and beta-hydroxybutyric acid (BHB). Acetone is the least abundant, produced in much smaller quantities. It is exhaled through the lungs rather than being used as fuel and therefore can be measured using a breathalyzer, like this product. However, BHB is the body produced from ketosis (or AcAc which is converted to BHB) so measuring those in the blood is what will effectively measure one's state of ketosis. I thought it would be valuable in that if it registered some acetone level then I was probably in ketosis which might be enough to allow for less frequent blood tests. However, I have found that even if I'm in a good state of ketosis with high BHB levels, for example after 50+ hours of fasting, this device usually measured zero - it was extremely inaccurate and inconsistent.This device is both inaccurate and does not measure relevant ketone body concentrations so I would not suggest you purchase it to determine your level of ketosis.

Bought the product to keep track of ketosis. It took several weeks for me to be sure I was in ketosis (via Keto-Mojo blood test). Product does work for alcohol, but not for ketones. I was unable to contact seller for refund and the time for Amazon refund had passed. I keep it in the car in case I've had a drink so I'll know if I'm over the limit. If Keto is important to you, Keto-Mojo is the only way to go, although it is not cheap.

I read as many reviews as I could before purchasing it. I learned from the reviews, and the manufacturer’s site, how to obtain my keto number. While I do agree that the instructions are somewhat confusing, I had no trouble figuring it out from the information I had already read. I use it several times a day because I like to see if certain foods have a negative effect and vice versa. I love that I get real-time accurate ketosis readings. When I haven’t had much to eat during the day, the number is lower because I haven’t consumed enough fat, but after I eat, I check about an hour later, and my number is up because my body is burning the fuel I just consumed. I love this handy compact device. I recommend it to everyone and I will purchase it again if something happens to it. My only real “complaint” is that I wish the initial beep was just a little louder. Otherwise, I find it to be a most functional tool using it for the keto life.....and it was really fun going out with my sisters for some drinks and seeing what our BAC was, so it’s fun too 😉 In conclusion, more than affordable, accurate real-time ketone readings, compact, and durable. I would love to re-write the instructions for use and would make the initial beep a tad more audible. Great product!

I bought 2 because they are inexpensive and I figured me and the wife could each have our own. After opening the packages I tried mine out and it read 1.4g/l. I had the wife try the same device and she got the exact same reading. So I tried the other device and this one had a malfunctioning screen that could only been seen when you hold the device at an odd angle. To top it off it failed to get any reading.

Sometimes it stays in warm up mode when turned on. I have to turn it off several times or pull the batteries out to get it to switch over to blow. Then you blow and the tone sounds and I stop blowing only to find out there's still 5 more seconds of blowing time showing. So that makes me question the accuracy of the unit itself. There are no instructions on how to operate it other than how to figure Ketones.
