Minimal Electro at its finest
Thomas Leer is one of the most under-rated musicians the UK has ever produced, this collection of early material is excellent, experimental electro/synthpop and creating EBM before it ever existed, the music and songs on 1979 are dark and futuristic, Thomas Leer was too ahead of his time for his own good.I recommend this album to fans of Absolute Body Control, early Front 242 (and Underviewer), Tubeway Army, John Foxx and Fad Gadget. This is minimal electro at its finest

Tabletop Experiments
A fair number of people aware of Thomas Leer will have heard of him through his partnership with Propaganda's Claudia Brucken in Act.This album compiles his earliest synthesiser and guitar led recordings at home after relocating from Scotland to London. These chronologically slot in just after his groundbreaking 1978 "Private Plane" single. The sound on these tracks broadly falls into what lazy 21st Century journalism would call "garage electronica". Similar in tone and feel to Cabaret Voltaire's "Mix Up" , Tubeway Army's "Blue Album" or the early pre "Reproduction" Human League demo material.Anyone with a love for this experimental period in late 1970's music:Buy it. Treasure it.The days of the sonic terrorist have long been suffocated by the overcooked 1980's and modern factory farm pop.

Indispensable
Unreleased Leer, recorded at a time when nobody sounded like this. Indispensable.
