For making pickled and fermented products, the traditional style Chines jar features a simple water airlock without the use of rubber gaskets or seals. Clear glass allows you to keep an eye on your product. This is our largest jar with a full 2 gallon capacity and over 3 inch diameter neck opening for easy loading. The airlock on this jar is extremely simple; without the use of plastic tubes, chambers or rubber gaskets. Simply add water to the rim and cap off the lid. The water creates an air-tight seal around the base of the cap, allowing naturally occurring gasses to escape, but no air to enter the jar.

thin glass, will break
I was extremely careful because i saw the glass was so thin. I filled it with salt and cabbage very very carefully as to not touch it too hard and break it. I let it sit overnight with about 20 lbs of cabbage in it. in the morning there was a little crack and the cabbage juice had leaked all over the floor, apparently just from the weight of the cabbage in the jar. The seller was nice and promptly refunded me, thank you. very low quality product i would never recommend. I hope they make a quality product like this soon that is not so easily breakable because it would be very useful.
