The Maintenance of Cloisonne 1. There two aspects of maintenance of cloisonné arts needs to note, one is about metal maintenance, the other is glaze maintenance, both which should be placed in sites without tendency of acid-base and with little dust. With proper measurement, good cloisonné products can keep original brightness for 50 years. 2, When cleaning the surface of cloisonné arts, usually can not wash it with water, or with acid-base cleanser, or deal with it in high heat. 3, Large area of metal is mostly applied plating craft, when cleaning it, soft pure cotton cloth or cloth with hair quality should be applied to wipe it. 4, The cleaning of glaze surface is better to proceed in dry situation, firstly flick off dust on the surface with duster (chicken feather is the best), then wipe it with soft cotton cloth. 5, After the de-dusting and wiping on the metal and glaze surface, spray wax brightener on it to keep its brightness and texture. 6, The cloisonné glaze surface is very different from that of porcelain , as cloisonné glaze surface have many small holes, which is the inherit characteristics of special material and craft, so need to note moisture-proving when cleaning so that to avoid the color change aroused by polluting of the holes. 7, If there is copper embryo exposing inside the vase, should spray wax on it in time to prove corrosion. 8, High value cloisonné arts usually are not implements, but art collections, which should not be placed in high or moving dangerous sites to avoid dropping off or hitting damage.
