UltraFlex TSA Approved Lock with RED Open Alert Indicator for Luggage & Gym Lockers

These are the best TSA locks I have used used so far!!. The flexible cord makes it very easy to secure anything from luggage & toiletry kits to computer bags & personal caring on bags. The cable is flexible & thin so it is easier to look thru zippers even if they are small. I used them n my checked luggage last week and my carry on bags. The color coded door located on the lock itself let me know if TSA felt the need to open my. When TSA uses a key to open luggage it changes the indicator light from green to red. You need to know 3 digit code to reset indicator back to Green. I used these locks last week on checked luggage and carry-on bags. It worked perfectly on my CPAP bag keeping my medication safe and out of sight. I used it on my Free Flyer dry bag that I carry when I need more than a wallet (I don't care for purse"s unless they are small evening style) These simply are great for keeping a multitude of bags securely closed whether you are traveling or just want to keep your laptop bag, purse, etc secured at your desk at work. My husband puts one on his lunch bag to keep others out of his lunch and it allows him to store his meds safely as well.

I show in great detail the use of this lock.I was traveling over the holidays to visit family and I had a couple of bags that I needed locks for. One being an oversized bag, which is why I purchased this lock set, and a smaller bag. I purchased another lock set from Alpine Rivers called the Ultra Tuff for the smaller bag. The problem with general locks is that the TSA can't open your bag. They need to have easy access if they need to inspect your bag(s). This lock is TSA approved.I was actually very impressed with the quality of construction and the ease of use. And although TSA didn't have to inspect my bag on my trip, I know that all my belongings were safe. Another use for this lock (and the other lock) is you can also use on lockers at work or even at the gym. Just a thought. Anyways, I would highly recommend Alpine Rivers' UltraFlex lock.

I returned another 4.5 star related lock. Sent it back. Difference between .5 stars in this case is huge. While the goal of these locks is to deter causal opening of luggage. Since we all know they won't stop a motivated thief its easy to assume plastic lock is good enough.But what if you want inside your own luggage? Why did I return locks that cost half the price with good reviews? Because the inside plastic mechanics caused the lock to set to a random combination and when I figured it out and set a new combination and it did it again. No more plastic gear locks no matter how well rated.These locks are solid, even a bit heavy and each number movies into place with a click to no accidental half number combination.Sure if they really wanted in, they can break your luggage, they are not going to break these and you are always going to know you can get into the bag, unless you forget the combination.

I ordered the Flex Lock version for my Grandparents figuring it would be easier for them to use. The locks are nice quality, have solid construction and work great. My Grandparents had no issues using them or setting a combination and with the longer braided cable proved to be the best option for their luggage.When they returned home from vacation I was told that TSA cut the cable because the lock was supposedly jammed. I contacted Robin, co-founder of Alpine Rivers on a Saturday evening, not expecting a response over the weekend, and received a reply within the hour. Robin immediately sent out a replacement which was received that Monday. I was highly impressed with the level of customer service and the expedient resolution. This has been one of the best customer service experiences I've had with any company. I highly recommend their product which they back with a 100% guarantee. I will not hesitate to buy a set for myself next time I travel.

I bought this set of TSA luggage padlocks with the flexible cable type shackles as well as the set with the rigid steel shackles to go on a trip in March. I am not a frequent traveler and never used one of these types of locks. Previously, I thought that TSA was going to get in there if they wanted to so, why bother? I now know that this will keep out curiosity seekers and the TSA will have to lock it up again to get their key back.This lock will indicate when TSA opens it.I had no challenge setting the combination to my own personal setting with the instructions that were provided. I think it's a nifty little lock that I will probably find other uses for around the house.It is about 1-5/8" square, seems to be solidly built. I tried it on a piece of luggage (pictured).I recommend this lock and/or its sister lock, the more robust model with the  solid shackle .Safe Travels!JoAnne

Simple and easy to use. I found it a little bit tricky to change the code, but mostly because I'm a little bit klutzy. The lock seems sturdy, but not so sturdy that it's heavy. I'd say it's a decent weight that doesn't add much to your bag, but also doesn't feel wimpy.I haven't had occasion to use it on actual travel yet, but it easily fit on my luggage and is easy to remove. It sounds like TSA has to re-lock it before they can remove their key, so that is good news. I need to do some additional research on how to reset the code if I needed to, but I'm overall happy with my purchase.
