Great Concept but needs some tweaking
The concept is simple and the unit is actually easy to assemble but quite frankly it drops the ball in two key places. The velcro straps have a metal ring attachment that is meant to allow the headrests to be inserted thru to hold support the weight. The holes are too small and you need to verify that your headrests are removable (they are not on a Dodge Caravan, btw.) My solution was to get a carabiner clip for each side at my local hardware store. This worked well, but as a permanent solution the manufacturer should make the holes larger and make these opened on one side of the metal ring so that you can attach to all styles of head rests. The second problem is that there is nothing to keep the shelf from rotating within the straps, thereby dumping everything stored on the shelf. My solution was to get two metal plates (I used electrical wall plate blanks) and then sandwich the shelf and the strap together, preventing it from rotating. This only needs to be done on one strap. A permanent solution for the manufacturer would be to use a strap with holes in it (like a belt), and then supply a bolt and washer to thread thru the hole and clamp to the shelf.I would advise against purchasing this unit unless you're willing to spend a little time making the modifications to it, otherwise you'll be disappointed.

Absolute garbage
This is a terrible product. Here's why I feel this way:1) The product could not be assembled. The quality control is apparently terrible because the middle segment of the shelf that sits behind the seats was manufactured improperly. One of the metal tubes was not large enough to accept the end piece.2) The velcro straps that are supposed to hold the shelf to the back seat have no way of keeping the shelf from slipping in them and dropping all of the items that you put on it.3) The buckles are supposed to fit around the posts that hold the headrests on. The holes for the buckles are simply too small to do that for my car. It might fit for other cars, but I strongly recommend making those holes larger.Fortunately, the seller offered me a refund without blinking an eye. Didn't even want the product shipped back (gee, I wonder why!?!?) So, now that I have my refund, I've worked up some solutions to the problem.1) I cut, crushed, and mangled the inner tube of the shelf so that it could be jammed into the outer tube that was not large enough. I then took a rubber mallet to the whole thing and bashed the two pieces of the shelf together. They will NOT come apart now.2) I'm going to use a leather punch and cut holes every inch or so along the inside of the velcro strap. I will then use removable tie-wraps (you can get them from mcmaster.com) to firmly secure the shelf to the velcro so that it will not slip.3) I obtained a few keyrings that I will fit into the headrest post holes in the buckles and then use those to securely attach the buckles to the posts. So, I think I can make it work, but it's a pain in the rear to do so.Buyer, avoid.

Great product, but possible install incompatibility issue needs to be clearly stated in description.
I love the idea of this product, but I could only rate it 4 stars due to a incompatibility issue I think needs to be stated in it's product description. I have a new 2014 minivan which has the fold-down headrests on the 3rd row seats. These headrest are not removable like many older models are. Due to this, the product could not be installed properly and I had to unfortunately return it. I opened the package and the product was exactly as described and good quality. I was psyched to install, and then saddened when I realized it would not work with my type of headrests. I was going to rig it differently, but when the headrests move from "up" to "folded down", it affects the stability of the shelf. For those that have vehicles with removable headrests, I highly suggest this product. If they come out with a product for my type of headrests, I would buy for sure.

Great product!!
This thing is awesome. Yes, you need to make sure your headrests are able to lift out completely, or you will not be able to use this, but if they do, this thing saves SO much space. Having 2 kids under the age of 5 I pretty much always have a huge stash of stuff I need to keep in the van (diapers/snacks/cleaning supplies/medical supplies (oldest has health issues)/potty training supplies, ETC). Husband understood the need for this, but was always slightly frustrated that we no longer had floor space in the way back. Now I get my storage, and HE gets the floor space for groceries or whatever else. Yay!

Nice little rack
I bought this for an alternative to buying all the expensive add ons when I bought my SUV. The only issue I had with this shelf is I am not able to take the headrest off to hang the straps on. It stills works well for putting light items on for the kids to be able to reach and more room in the back for groceries. Just check that you are able to remove the headrests in the back. Some SUV's like mine are set up for extra crash protection which does not allow the removal of the headrests.

its ok
i had higher hopes. the shelf isnt as long as I expected. its barely held up by the straps in my car due to the length but it does hold up a few small bags of grocery or even my softball bag full of equipment. I wish the strap held it better. Also the ability to fold this down is kinda annoy when your seat backs are angled since then it falls off the straps. For the price it worth it but dont expect to love it.

Love this shelf!
This shelf is easy to assemble and strudy enough for daily needs in my SUV cargo area. It gives me much more space. The only caviat is that I had to rig this with some rope, because the straps that hold this are meant to go underneath the rearseat headrests. My headrests do not pull out, and thus the strap would not hold. So I tied a small rope around the headrest and inserted the straps to that. Also, the shelf does come in 3 panels. I liked that I could attach 2 panes together instead of having it go all the way across. In the 2 panel set up, you would need a center headrest to attach to (or use a similar rope method that I used).
