Mobile Suit Gundam: THE ORIGIN 7: Battle of Loum (Gundam Wing)

The back story of Mobile Suit Gudnam fleshed out excellently!
This book wraps up all of the back story of the Char and Sayla, Zeon's early use of mobile suits and the first few months of the One Year War. It really does a great job of showing the state of the Earth and Colonies leading up to Char's attack of Side 7. I remember watching the anime when I was younger and didn't fully understand the gravity of the situation (in relation to the events leading up to war and during,) and just how far Zeon was willing to justify their right for independence. Even in other Gundam OVAs as well, you only see bits and pieces of flashbacks or short dialogue alluding to the chaotic events. For instance in Origin, you see Gihren with no remorse order any neighboring colony not in line with Zeon's views, destroyed and one being infamously used in an attempt to destroy Federation HQ in Jaburo. Afterr the failed colony drop you learn just how devastating the colony was for the planet. Also seeing the tragic battle of Loum along, showcasing the Federation's inability to stand toe to toe with Zeon's mobile suit force. Another noteworthy insight is seeing Revil and Degwin discussing the urgent need to end the war before it gets worse, while Revil is a POW in Zeon. Seeing it all play out in book 7 of Mobile Suit Gundam Origin, really helps me to understand the state of affairs for both sides before Amuro and the Gundam come onto the scene. It really is no wonder in my mind why the war couldn't afford (in more ways than one,) to last longer than a full year for Federation and Zeon.

They don't package books in anything to protect them
This series is a really good read and make a great collection when they are in good condition. Amazon apparently refuses to put any protective packaging on their books. This was literally just placed loosely in the bottom of the box and the corner got fully ripped through. This isn't the first time one of my books arrived damaged.

Highly recommended series
Just arrived today I've been getting the origin books from bellwether books for a while now and very happy with how quick they ship them out. I enjoy this series a lot. If you are a gundam fan I highly recommend these books they give you way more character development and you learn a lot more about the story. Love how these books flesh out characters when i first saw dozel in the original gundam i really did not care too much for the character but after reading these he became a character i could actually feel bad for as well as like out of all the zabis he is the one who seems like a decent person. Anyways I feel like I'm rambling but I highly recommend these.

The Red Comet Soars Across Space
The seventh volume of Gundam: The Origin continues the flashbacks by moving to Operation British and then to the Battle of Loum. Char has become a Zeon ace pilot in Mobile Suit combat and participates in the Battle of Loum alongside the Black Tri-Stars and many other characters that would play future roles in the anime series! We finally get to see detailed accounts of the colony drop from Operation British and then the beginning and end of Loum. We've all heard of Char's sinking of 5 ships as well as the Black Tri-Stars capturing General Revil and now we get to see it. Many other characters are present here including Ryu Jose! Garma is constantly trying to keep up with Char's accolades and this ties directly into Garma's last stand with White Base. We also get to see the war brought to Sayla Mass. The book ends where the first book begins thanks to the extra story "On the Eve" and we also get commentary by Mamoru Nagano at the end as an extra feature. Another must-have Gundam release!

Yet Another Fantastic Volume
Another excellent volume, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko knocks it out of the park again. This volume covers the first month of the One Year War, a part of the Universal Century's timeline that typically has only been covered in passing and concludes the lengthy flashback that started in volume 5. This volume is a gripping read start to finish and touches on and fleshes out so many great characters. Getting to see Char earn his namesake, the Black Tri-Stars gaining their fearsome reputation, the continuing drama of House Zabi, and of course, Sayla being a badass left me salivating for the next book. The artwork is once again amazing, especially the color pages of Yasuhiko's watercolor work, which paints the beautiful and haunting scenes of the war. The paper and binding quality is consistent with past volumes, which is to say its amazing. If you've been enjoying Gundam: The Origin then buying this volume is a no-brainer. If you love comics, especially manga, give this series a shot and pick up the first volume, its truly fantastic and deserves your support.

Gundam The Origin Vol.7
Wow is all I can say for this amazing installment of Gundam the Origin. We are now seven volumes into the story and the story is still as good if not better than volume one. This volume covers the events prior to the battle of Loum, the battle of Loum, and the aftermath of the battle itself; which was never shown in the animated series. One of the characters that really stands out in this volume is Sayla Mass, I won't get into any of the details but if you have been following Gundam for a long time you will understand. This volume holds up the quality of all previous volumes with beautiful color pages mixed in with the black and white ones as well as a bonus 8 page section in the end of the book detailing Mamoru Nagano's thoughts on Gundam the Origin. For anyone wondering Mamoru Nagano is a mechs designer from the Mobile suite Zeta Gundam series. I recommend this volume to any Gundam fan.

Epic conclusion of the flashback arc.
If you're planning on buying this, then you already know all about the amazing quality of the art and overall edition on this. These manga are worth every penny; the Hardcover with a soft finish, the glossy paper... everything in here screams that this has the pretension of being not only another comic, but a masterpiece in its own rights. This volume in particular might be one of the best in the series. From the non-stop action to a masterful way to depict human emotions, even the broken rhythm between all characters nourish the grand scale of what sometime must happens for history to take a sharp turn.I'm not an original Gundam fan. In fact, I discovered Gundam with this gem. So I can't tell for sure, but I think most of this "flashback arc" wasn't in the original show. However, this is how a true re-imagining should be done. Seamless from the adapted material to the added stories. This volume has it all, every stone falling into place nicely.I also like the way the story kinda comes full circle in this one. Until a certain point, the reader has to be plunged into it nearly forcibly. With no anchors to the reality of this world, we discover with Amuro the reality of things generally hidden from the common and mundane lifestyle. But this... This is where the reality of the world of "The Origins" kicks in. Leaving the reader with finally all the cards in hands for what is yet to come.

The Red Comet!
Again, an utterly amazing volume. Another series I am running out of superlatives in my reviews for. More new back story on Char and Sayla that is wonderfully told and keeps you engrossed all the way through. I wish more people were aware of how truly amazing this series is! Beautiful hardcover a fan of great art and story telling should want to try out.
