Russian Handmade Hand-painted Wooden Nesting Doll Matryoshka Semenovskaya 10 Ps

I bought these for my daughters birthday. It took a while to come but it did ship directly from Russia.When my daughter opened this on her birthday she loved it and the surprise on her face as each doll got smaller and smaller was priceless. There are 10 dolls in total! Way more than average 5 or 6.Only negative is they came smelling very strongly of paint/varnish? fumes. They no longer smell but I did wonder what was on them at the start?All in all very happy with purchase.

I have ordered two of these 10 piece nesting dolls before. This doll was a third the size of the past dolls although the add looked exactly the same as the last time I had ordered these dolls.The three smallest dolls in this set can hardly be called dolls. The smallest was the size of the tip of a tooth pic. It was so small that there was no way to paint a face on it. Even the next size larger was so small it did not have a face painted on it. The head of the doll that was number 10 was like 1/16 of an inch and the head of #9 was 1/8 of an inch - two small to be painted like a doll.I had several email exchanges with the seller. The seller finally agreed to give my money back if I returned the doll. I had already give this doll to a granddaughter who lives in another part of the country so the retrieving this doll to return it was not practical.

These dolls are so beautiful and well made. They were just not the color I was looking for.

Was a Christmas present due to being in Alaska it was hard to find real Nesting Dolls, and these she absolutely loved.
