MX SELECT Selectorized/Adjustable Dumbbell, 2.72 cu. Ft.

I've been using these for a month now and am glad I pulled the trigger and got these. For quite a while I had been using standard plates with screw-collar dumbbell bars. They were a pain to adjust, they constantly became loose, and you couldn't rest them on your legs very easily. Was a little concerned about the MX Selects since there weren't many reviews but I did a little external research and decided that these were the best option for what I wanted.What I wanted are dumbbells that:1) wouldn't fall apart in the middle of an exercise.2) weren't longer/bigger than they needed to be for a given weight.3) I could comfortably rest on my legs.4) I could easily adjust the weight.The only other product that also (mostly) fit that criteria were the PowerBlocks. In the end I decided I liked the retention mechanism of the MX Selects over the clips that the PowerBlocks used. Also, the MX Selects can be adjusted in 2.5 lb increments by adjusting the weight of only one end of the dumbbell. I don't really notice the imbalance and it is easier than dealing with the 2.5 lb inserts that the PowerBlocks use (and those do not provide all 2.5 lb weight increments anyway). Less important, I liked that the MX Selects still had the same general look and feel of traditional dumbbells.The areas where the PowerBlocks win over these are A) maximum weight, the MX Selects only go to 55 lbs per dumbbell, whereas the PowerBlocks (currently) go up to 125 lbs, and B) the cost, neither are cheap but the MX Selects were the most expensive option (in this weight range and even when considering the stand is purchased separately for the PowerBlocks).I estimated that I at my current fitness level I could do the vast majority of my exercises between the 10-55 lb range that the MX Selects provide. Obviously, that is going to depend on the individual and I can see it being a deal breaker for those who need more weight. As my requirements exceed what these dumbbells can provide I may have to augment with fixed weight dumbbells and/or something like the PowerBlocks. That is a problem I look forward to having.With all of that said, the MX Selects have been a pleasure to use. They are easy to adjust, they feel solid, and I've been doing a lot more of my exercises with dumbbells since I picked these up.

These are not commercial or professional grade dumbbells but they are very nice. I have zero issues with them and have been using them for over a year now. I've seen some of the negative reviews and I can say I did not experience any of these issues. No issues putting together, they feel tight and secure when lifting, overall nice product. Id wager if you slam them on ground or toss them around they arent going to hold up well but, but normal usage going on 15 months and zero issues or concerns.

Item was delivered in 3 pieces. Easy ro set up. Quick adjustments on the fly when you want to changes weights. Product is quite and also the flat plates make bit easier to rest them in your knees. These adjustable weights feels like the individuals weights you see at the gym and doesn't feel awkward when using them. I'm very pleased.

I really like these dumbbells. I've had the set for a few months now and they are what I was hoping for: easy to adjust, dumbbell feel, and sturdy. I was most worried about swinging the weights for cross fit style workouts, but they've worked well and I don't have any concerns going forward. I would not recommend banging the weights, though.The weights come with a stand, which was easy to put together. The stand is needed to hold the dumbbells when adjusting weight.Two small gripes would be that the weights are not symmetrically shaped (just takes getting used to) and the selector is numbered 1-10 which is indexed to a weight. Although I'm starting to remember the numbers I still like to double check before I begin each exercise.All around, though, just a really good set of adjustable dumbbells.

These are exceptional dumbbells and I've played around with powerblocks pros, powerblock elite, and I feel form and function wise the mx55 are actually better.Pros:1 comes with nice, sturdy, functional stand.2. They feel solid like regular dumbbells versus the powerblocks which are a bit strange with the multiple bars that go across the dumbbell that limits your exercise.3. Fast to change weights. It's a bit faster however to change the weight on the powerblock versus the dial system on the mx55 but not by much as you get use to being able to adjust two dials at the same time....there are a total of four dials that will need to be adjusted as there is a dial in each end of the dumbbell so a total of four dials to adjust if using both dumbbells.4. Quiet versus the noisy powerblock elite and pros. I had the urethane powerblock pros which would clatter due to the weight inserts among other things. These MX 55 are much quieter and pretty much noiseless during the exercise.Cons1. Warranty seems suspect. 90 day warranty? I mean that does not inspire confidence even though the quality seems really good thus far.2. I feel I overpaid a tad due to covid but not by much as some other sets I've seen. I actually sold my powerblock set at profit so these were almost free in retrospect.3. Not expandable is a major shortcoming if you plan on doing some serious lifting. You will outgrow these more than likely if you are a young male trying to bulk up. You might have to spend money on a heavy standard dumbbell set down the road when prices get more reasonable. Increasing reps and time under tension should slow down that need for more weight as you get stronger.Minus one star for the short 3 month warranty. That is a joke of a warranty and is a big concern for me considering the cost of these.
