On any night, there may be up to ten dogs staying here. The upside to this kind of dog boarding is that dogs are not locked up in a kennel 24 hours a day. They are in the comfort of a private home. So I don't see the wild and crazy side of separation anxiety but I do see plenty of dogs who seem easily startled by any noise, ones who can't seem to get comfortable, and others who are glued to my side and whine/cry/bark if I step out of sight for a second. So I figured this wouldn't hurt and may even help my dogs if the claims are true.My experience: My dogs have not acted any differently since I plugged this thing in a few weeks ago. That's okay, they probably don't need it. I have noticed that one of our regulars who always wants to be by himself on the second floor is totally cool with all the different dogs here at any given point and will hang out with us. It seems to work on puppies who have stayed here recently - they go in their crates at night and settle right down without crying and sleep through the night. This is different from puppies who have stayed here previously. A very old man dog started to hump the bejezus out of my dog after being here one night. Actually, my dogs have been acting a little differently - older female has been slightly more doting towards guests that have been here a while.I'm going to keep using this for the time being since it does seem to have some positive effects. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good addition for nervous dogs *by D***O on Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2011* I have a dog has a seizure disorder, and she is often quite anxious, esp. after a seizure. While she is medicated for this disorder, it's not always enough to keep her calm. When she's very nervous, we put on her Thundershirt, and plug in the DAP diffuser. while neither works along, together, they help to keep her calm. I've tried the DAP diffuser alone, and it does work--she visibly calms--it's just not enough on it's own to help a very anxious dog.I also use it with my other dog, who has more normal separation anxiety. With him, it's almost enough to calm him down entirely, if he's not too worked up. It's often on in "his" room, and he'll usually settle down much more quickly if the DAP diffuser is going. If he's terribly anxious, jumping and barking, it's not enough-then I put a thundershirt on him too. but mostly, this diffuser is all he needs.This does work, and I think it's a great adjunct for calming nervous or anxious dogs. If you have serious issues, as with my dogs, you may need more than just this (which is why I don't give it 5 stars) but this is absolutely worth it if you can get it reasonably priced, and it's very helpful. I'd also suggest the thundershirt to use with it if you have a seriously anxious dog.But I'm quite grateful this product is out there--it makes my dogs lives better, and is way to help calm them without adding yet more medication. ### ⭐⭐⭐ we've stopped using this for about three months now and she's still fine. Our pup is a rescue and we struggled a bit with her nervousness and anxiety when we weren't home. It was suggested that we try this; so we did, in conjunction with not crating her and gating her in our family room. She no longer barked the entire time and slept most of the work day. So we assumed it worked. However, we've stopped using this for about three months now and she's still fine. So we're guessing what really helped was not keeping her in a crate and allowing her the space of the family room and not the DAP...
