## Description

Unlike the Brady Bunch, the Camdens of Seventh Heaven aren't a blended family. And unlike the Partridge Family, they aren't a band. They're just a family--a large, if normal family with normal problems and concerns. A little like the Waltons, perhaps, but set in the present day. The parents are Eric (Stephen Collins from All the President's Men ), a minister, and Annie (Catherine Hicks from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home ), a homemaker. They live in the suburbs of Glenoak, California, with their five children: 16-year-old Matt (Barry Watson), 14-year-old Mary (Jessica Biel), 12-year-old Lucy (Beverley Mitchell), 9-year-old Simon (David Gallagher), and 5-year-old Ruthie (Mackenzie Rosman). By the end of the pilot ("Anything You Want"), they'll add the dog Happy to their household. Created by Barbara Hampton ( Blossom ) and produced by Aaron Spelling ( Beverly Hills 90210 ), Seventh Heaven premiered on the WB in 1996 and would become its most enduring hit. It may lack a gimmick, but this heartwarming family drama doesn't lack a theme: communication. And since the Camdens are a minister's family, faith comes up often, as well, which gives the show something in common with such otherwise disparate programs as Touched by an Angel and Joan of Arcadia . Throughout 1996-1997, the Camdens would deal with many tough issues, both internal and external, including teen pregnancy ("Family Secrets"), death ("In the Blink of an Eye"), racism ("The Color of God"), spousal abuse ("What Will People Say"), and alcoholism ("Last Call for Aunt Julie"). In the years to come, the cast would have their own real-life issues with which to contend, such as Watson's battle with cancer (after taking 2003 off to recover, he would return in 2004) and the gradual loss of Biel ( The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ) to the movies. --Kathleen C. Fennessy 7TH HEAVEN centers around the Camdens, a tight-knit family living in Glenoak, California and consisting of minister dad Eric, homemaker mom Annie, and their brood of five children: Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon and Ruthie and their adorable dog, Happy. The series chronicles the many complex issues of growing up in the world today, and the Camden family tackles these issues head-on. Unafraid of intervening in the lives of their children, Eric and Annie discuss serious issues with them in an effort to educate them on the ways of the world. The family remains a tight unit as a result of their love for one another, and their faith in God.

Review: I'm a mom of 4 and love the show! - I first started watching the series when I was on bedrest, pregnant with my now 4 year old boy/girl twins. Ironically, it was season three, and the character of Annie was pregnant with twins. Luckily, reruns from the first and second seasons were airing and I was able to go back and watch the whole series from the start. I was hooked! What most appeals to me is the tone of the show. In an age where MTV and reality anything-goes TV are popular, a show with family values is rare and special. 7th Heaven doesn't try to solve every problem, but treats everyone with dignity and respect. The parents are just as much "stars" of the show as are the children. Season 1 covers a wide range of topics: death, pregnancy, relationships, being a teenager, marital relationships, racism, ageism, fear, alcohol and drug abuse, gossip, the meaning of friendships, peer pressure, violence...and so much more! How the Camden family handles crisis is part of the joy and education of 7th Heaven. My oldest child is 11 and he watches every show with me. We use the series as a tool to communicate about a variety of subjects. Because the series tackles strong subjects (including the 9th season's Simon having premarital sex), it provides a forum for discussion -- especially with a Christian perspective. Truly, this is a show with family values. I'm just hoping that the rest of the seasons will also become available on DVD.
Review: Awesome TV Show, would watch it FOREVER! - I only watched it up to season 6. I love this show and watch it every night! It's still fresh even after 25 years, because it is filled with LOVE and FORGIVENESS. I only wish that Annie and Eric would've tortured their children less! I think that most of the family issues was because of lack of communication between kids and parents, the kids were too stressed to talk to their parents and deal with the consequences, and that's why that they hid their problems from their parents very frequently. Mary and Simon were very smart, but they got punished a lot for reasonable/unreasonable reasons and that is why they had tougher teenage years than other Camdens. Matt was the best, but he also got punished for many unreasonable reasons and that is why he used to please everyone and he got abused by his girlfriends and eventually he felt so lonely that he decided to marry a stranger after only one date! Annie and Eric ruined the future of their children by disciplining them unreasonably.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Religion and Family

This show is awesome! You can watch it with or without your kids. It is so refreshing to see a show on Primetime TV that is not hot and steamy teens sleeping around, getting high, or abusing or being abused. They show that the family unit works with love, respect and disclipline. They cover real life situation and it is always a christian moral to the storyline. It restores your faith in family and in GOD and that with him in your family you can over come anything. 7th Heaven I hope will be around for another 10 seasons. If you haven't watched it Please do. Then start watch the reruns that are in syndication from the beginning or purchase the seasons on DVD. You will be so glad you did. The show also gives you alternatives to handling situations that may come in your families. So if you are tired of the sexy, foul language, disruptive dysfunctional family shows, take a break and tune in to WB's 7TH HEAVEN. You will become addicted and you will love the heart warming storylines and characters. I must say Ruthie especially when she was little is my Faavorite Camden.
