Very useful gadget
I had reservations about buying a cheap diagnostic tool but am so pleased with it. The engine light came on in my old Ford Focus while I was 150 miles from home. I drove home with no trouble so thought it probably wasn't anything major and having just had a good service I didn't want to rush to the garage again. It took me a while to find the socket as it wasn't mentioned in the hand book and wasn't where the internet said it should be either, but having eventually found it, this clever gizmo connected easily. I thought it might just give a code that I would then have to research but it simply told me that the catalytic convertor wasn't working at maximun efficiency in text on the screen. Since my car is 18 years old, and on its way out I decided to just delete the code on the assumption that if it really was a problem, the engine light would come back on. It hasn't so far and I've driven about 100 miles over the last week. Brilliant. I am very happy with my purchase.

A bit of a let down
When I scrolled through the makes of car that it has codes for mine wasn't included, (Volkswagen), which reduces it's usefulness to me. It was one of those purchases that I'd convinced myself that I couldn't live without but with hindsight I probably could. Nothing untoward showed up on the diagnostics with my car so that is something to be grateful for. Strangely, if it had diagnosed a fault I would have been more inclined to value the device more. I wanted to buy this item so that if someone at a garage told me the car had a problem then at least I could confirm it for myself or learn about what was wrong with the car before taking it to a garage. It may still come in useful at some point.

Compact, fast, accurate, recommended.
This is great. I used to have a different one, but it was pretty big and needed a battery, and then the other week I stood on it and wasn't sorry it was broken :D Soooo anyway, I got this instead. First impressions - it's compact! It does everything my old one did, but quicker, and smaller. So much so that I now just keep it in my main vehicle in one of the cubby holes. To use, just connect it to the ODB port, it powers on straight away. Then it tells you to turn the ignition on, and then you start the diagnosis. Mine told me that one of my glow plugs has died, so now I don't have to take it to the garage - saved a few quid there, will order the glow-plug and put it in myself. Happy days :)

Very good unit, tough construction, read my Honda Civic codes
Good unit. I bought this to check an error code on my Honda Civic CDTi. I wanted to see what the problem might be before taking it into my usual garage. I checked the internet to find where my OBD socket was (most seem to be under the steering wheel somewhere) and plugged the lead in. The unit takes its power from this socket and doesn't seem to have any batteries of its own. I did not need the manual to get to the right screen and read the error codes that the car had logged. This unit also gave me engine data when I turned the car engine on with it still connected. It is made well, very sturdy in my hand and seems very robust. Overall, for the price, very good.

I don't need a car mechanic!
I can't believe that this device is so accurate and so easy to use. I have saved so much money diagnosing certain faults myself. I now get the parts myself and pay only for the labour. Such a shame I didn't buy this earlier

Audi A4 S Line 2010 didn't recognise fault
I have an Audi A4 S Line 2010 bought this to identify a fault that had come up but it didn't recognise a fault in the vehicle, maybe if another one comes up it will recognise that one. I'd say dont go cheap or just go to a garage.
