Look forward to: - Maximum sun protection - fabric is certified UPF 50+, the highest given - An abundance of shade - broad brim protects from both sun & rain- Keeping cool - the HyperKewl Evaporative cooling material absorbs & slowly releases water through evaporation to help ‘super charge’ the body’s natural cooling process - Brim size: Front & back: 3 1/2”; Sides: 2 1/2"" - Under brim color: Khaki under brim is Olive. All other colors have the same under brim color as body of hat - Weight: 3.8oz / 108 grams - Fabric: Hat: 98% organic cotton; 2% spandex - lightweight, breathable, sueded for a soft touch & with some give for a comfort fit - HyperKewl Evaporative Insert: 100% polyester mesh on the outside; interior is 53% polymer fibres; 47% cellulose fibres - Care: Remove HyperKewl insert before washing hat. Machine wash hat in cool water, delicate cycle or hand wash; Reshape & air-dry.- How to use your HyperKewl Evaporative Insert: Soak the insert in cold water for up to 5 minutes – insert into the Hat. The airflow through the mesh panel will start the evaporative cooling process. The cooling insert is expected to provide temperatures that are approx. 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than ambient temperature depending on airflow. It will not feel like an air-conditionner on your head – it will super charge the evaporation process to help you feel comfortable on the trail. High humidity will diminish the fabric’s ability to evaporate water

Sizing Beware
I don't know enough yet to leave a detailed review of the quality of the product. I am having to return the item to get a larger size (on a side note, it won't let me exchange, just return, which means there's no telling when I'll be able to re-order in the larger size). On sizing, I would recommend going one size up from what the Tilley website recommends. I measured and remeasured a dozen times based on their recommendations (I even measured quite loosely to ensure it would be comfortable when received), even watched their little video, and the recommendations on the website contradicted the labeling on the actual hat when I received it.Website: Wrap your measuring tool around your head. Make sure the bottom touches right above your eyebrows while going straight around your head. Compare that measurement against a ruler to get your size.Labeling: Designed to fit low and loose. Insert two fingers (flat) between the hat and your forehead. All of my measurements (even loose) had me in the 7 1/4 size. When I received the hat, it was snug. Within about 30 seconds of wearing it, I realized it was so snug it was giving me a headache.Other than that, at a glance, the hat looks nice and well made. The band on the inside of the hat is a tan/khaki color which is quite obvious on the grey hat. The brim is firm enough to hold its shape but not much more than that and the top of hat is kind of floppy with your head intended to keep it holding its shape.

Great, Great Hiker's Hat -- Sizing Issue
The Tilley Hiker's hat is now my go-to hat for all outdoor activities. Light, and an extended 3.5 " brim to add extra protection for the face and back of the neck, and 2.5" for the sides. Also, the Hiker's hat has what Tilley refers to as "wind cords"; one for under the chin and an adjustable one for the back of the head to keep it from blowing off; ingenious.NOTE: Sizing is an issue. I normally wear an L 7 5/8 or 61 cm in most hats. However, Tilley's website, based on the tape measurement of the circumference of my head, recommended a size 7 3/4 or 62 cm approximately. Still, the 7 3/4 was a tad snug but not uncomfortable thankfully (talk about a big head!). If I ever have to replace this hat (which Tilley will replace at 50% of the cost if damaged, frayed, etc.), I will order a 7 7/8; their largest size...Although some reviewers in the Question/Answer section of this webpage stated that the front brim did not pop up when the wind blew, mine did. Had to lower my head to keep it from flipping up but only when the wind blew over 20 mph. Otherwise, the front brim stayed put; unlike another sun hat that I wore a couple of days before...Sooo glad I got this particular Tilley hat. While Tilley has several other hats that also have the 3/4" mesh insert around the top of the hat to provide airflow, only the Hiker's hat has the "HyperKew Evaporative" cooling pad that worked like a charm. I soaked the cooling pad in tap water for 5 minutes per instructions and inserted the pad in the mesh compartment sewn in the inside of the crown. When the wind blew through the mesh insert the cooling effect was greatly enhanced by the cooling pad. Unlike the other popular and less expensive sun hat, I did not have to lift the Hiker's hat to cool off my head.Because of the quality construction, 50 SPF, floatabillity, excellent cooling features and Tilley's lifetime replacement guarantee, the extra cost of the Tilley Hiker's was well worth it.Thank you Tilley for making such a superior hiking hat.

Khaki hat for hot weather
Bought this for hot weather in Oklahoma and summer camping. Bought Tilley because I have thoroughly liked the classic, best-selling AirFlo hat I bought in Canada in 2017. Following a tip, I bought the hat in a ⅛ larger size than the AirFlo because a YouTube review suggested it would be better to be a bit looser in hot weather than the Tilley I wear in the cooler Canadian Rockies. Because the hat has a taller crown it sits further down on my head offering more sun protection for my forehead and back of neck. Adjustable straps forward and aft help keep hat in place when walking into strong breezes. I have not yet tried the Klew cooling pad. I ordered khaki for heat deflection and would note that the color of the hat and of the mesh look much better together than the pictures I saw online. My wife likes its looks even more than my other Tilley.

Sizing is small
I should have known. This is my third Tilly hat. They are awesome. However the airflow is suppose to fit loosely. I ordered a quarter size above my measurement and this one is real tight. I am returning it and buying a larger size. So I am recommending 1/2 size above your felt cowboy hat size.

Marvelous Hat
This is advertised as a "woman's" hat but Tilley does not differentiate between the sexes for the hiker's hats at least! Hat size is independent of gender and there are no style differences between 'men' and 'women'. Go to the Tilley website and see for yourself. Regardless of whether you select women's or men's hats clicking on hiker's hats will bring you to the same webpage. This is the price on the website. You can't miss with a Tilley hat.

Tilley Never Disappoints
Tilley is untouchable. I own three of their hats, and they are all fantastic. The “hiker” is a wonderful design. It sits tall like a fedora, and has a brim width comparable to an old safari hat. Just an all around winner. Couple that with Tilley’s lifetime guarantee, and it gets no better!

Lightweight and good coverage
This hat is just what I expected, as well as being one of the few Tilley Hats still produced in Canada. The only downside is that the head strap is "flimsy", i.e., not heavy weight. As such, it does not hold an adjustment very well. However, I love the hat otherwise.

Another Satisfied Customer
The Tilley Hiker's Hat did not disappoint! It is stylish, fits very well and is very well made. I have not had a chance to use the cooling system in it yet so I cannot comment on that. This is the third "Tilley Hat" that I have purchased, I truly like everything about them and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality brimmed hat.

Lightweight, comfortable, foldable and hygienic.
I've owned Tilley hats for years and this is another first class hat. We still get the secret pocket, but no bragging labels, apparently we can't have them because it's a planet saving measure. Instead inserted in the secret pocket is a floatation pad so it's not all bad. This hat replaces one that I lost, but the good thing is that this hat is even more comfortable than the one I lost. I love these hats they are so easy to care for, foldable and washable too.

Pricey, but well worth it.
I do quite a bit of walking, plus my skin burns in the sun easily, and hats don’t typically look good on me, so not an easy combo to shop for.The wide brim works really well to provide shade, the ventilation, plus cooling insert seem to help with overheating. With other hats I’m constantly removing them as my head has gone sweaty.I really like the way that the brim naturally curves down slightly at the front and back.I got caught in the rain last week with the hat, and was surprised to find that it seems to be naturally water resistant. Not sure if that’s just a temporary effect of the manufacturing process or permanent, but it felt like I had my own little mini umbrella! It cost me more than double what I wanted to pay, and so it feels like a guilty pleasure.Great Hat!

It looks good on and is also functional
This is my third Tilley hat. My first hat had holes in it after years of washing. Tilley replaced this free with my second Tilley hat. I was supposed to wash my second hat quite frequently but I did not and it got badly marked with sweat which would not wash out. Tilley will not replace hats just because they are stained with sweat. So I brought my third Tilley. The material looks less likely to get stained with sweat . There is also some added ventilation which should help keep the sweat down.

My parents love these hats and have been wearing them for years
My parents love these hats and have been wearing them for years. Disappointingly mine arrived and was too small to wear, even though I had followed the instructions and measured my head several times with the same result, prior to ordering. Had to return it, can't be bothered going through the process of head measuring again if their measurements are wrong anyway
