Almost perfect.
After installing it, the gripping of the camera is greatly improved. I didn't think it would matter but I really liked the textured/rubber area where your pinky goes. I believe an extender that has no texture or one that is just metal wouldn't feel as secure grip wise. Install was a breeze with the included allen wrench. Accessing the battery compartment is simple. For negatives - there is a tiny gap between the extender and the body. Because its hinged, it wiggles a little bit. Sometimes I felt it holding the camera which in turn made me believe the whole thing was coming loose. Which it wasn't.I don't like charging the batteries in the camera. I do it in a separate charger, so accessing the battery area was important. All other extenders either you have to unscrew the extender off or spin it to access the battery door. Or there are some L brackets that you actually take off the battery door and put it on the L bracket so you can get to the battery. Two issues. (To me) It makes the battery compartment less water proof. Second, L brackets dont have the rubbery grip where you put your pinky. If I charged the battery in camera, I probably would have gotten the Meike extender. The fit looks better. But for this particular extender the positives outweigh the negatives. I give it 4 stars.

Very functional and convenient grip
Pros:-High build quality-Easy install-Just the right amount of extra grip-Hinged cover is convenient and latch is solid-Has multiple mounting holes for attaching tripod plates or strapsCons:-Mounting holes for attachments are off-center and a bit awkwardly positionedI don't consider myself to have a particularly large hand, but my pinky was always hanging off the bottom of the stock camera grip. I never noticed much of a problem, but after getting this grip, there's no way im going back. This grip adds just the right amount of extra height to the A7RII to give your pinky something to rest on.Build quality is high. It's very sturdy aluminum frame and the grip texture is fairly well matched to the stock camera grip texture. It's not an exact match, of course, but it's close.Installation is easy and the hinged battery cover area is very convenient and solidly constructed. There is a small gap between the camera bottom and the top of the hinged battery cover area on the grip, but it's not too noticeable. There are different sized threaded holes on the bottom of the grip to let you attach other accessories such as tripod plates or camera straps. It's a very nice addition, and I'm glad to have it; however, the hole placement is off-center and makes it a little unbalanced to use on a tripod.Overall, a highly recommended addition to the A7 line, and much more reasonably priced than the Sony version.

Excellet addition to the A7R II
After switching from Nikon I just couldn't quite get comfortable holding my new Sony. I thought I'd get used to it in time. Still something was missing though. Until I found this grip extension. This grip makes the Sony feel infinitely better in the hand. I was very close to purchasing another option available on Amazon but losing access to the battery was a deal breaker for me. This solves the issue of comfort and maintains access to the battery. My only issue with this one is the rubber and felt contact pads between the grip and bottom of the camera. I noticed some of them are sliding, the adhesive holding them on doesn't appear to be the most robust. Also I wish the whole contact surface between the grip and camera was just rubber coated. There's a little bit of play if you hold the camera at odd angles for a while to grip may begin to rotate. If they covered the whole contact surface with rubber that'd probably solve it. Also it'd be nice if the mounting screw had a d-ring so I could take it off easier when needed rather than having to find a coin or allen wrench. Really this thing is great, I'm just nitpicking here. If you're even thinking of getting a grip extension for your Sony camera, this is the one. Just get it, you won't regret it.

Good grip extension but is not flat
I purchased this to help with the small grip on the a7iii. It works as a grip extension and the arca swiss plate on the bottom is handy, but I'm very disappointed in the design of the product. The middle of the camera is lower in profile than the grip extension so it doesn't allow the camera to sit flat on a surface. If you ever try to prop your camera on a shelf and take a picture, with this grip, you won't be able to do that (unless you post process the angle). Because of this I ended up going with a Stabil L grip instead. It gives me the extension I need while providing a l-bracket for mounting on either axis. So far I'm much happier with that product.

Excellent. Get it instead of the Sony grip extender
Got this and the Sony $100 grip extender to compare. The Lennon grip/plate is excellent and a great value! Also solves the problems presented by Sony's grip. The fit and finish isn't quite up to the Sony but very close and surprisingly well made. It is easy to access the battery door with a quick pull of a red button. The grip is just a little shorter then the Sony but still plenty to make a world of difference for ergonomics if you don't have really small hands. The plate is adjustable and slides in to sit flush with the camera body side. It also appears that there is a place to screw in an L plate. One of the best things about it, and biggest downside of the Sony, is that there are 3 different tripod screw holes on the bottom so you can still attach various camera straps/ RapidStrap. See the pictures.
