I use a lot of pepper and have purchased around a half dozen or so electric grinders, both push-button and gravity-feed styles. I have not been really satisfied with any of them. They either don't grind well, have weak motors and grind slowly, are difficult to adjust, hold too small a quantity or are difficult to refill, or just plain break after a short while. On top of that, the built-in lights on all of them were virtually worthless. I usually removed them to save battery life.As for the Gravity Electric Salt Pepper Grinder - Automatic Battery Powered, Adjustable Grind Coarseness, Blue LED Light, Great Mother's Day Gift, Premium Quality Electronic Black Pepper Mill (Stainless Steel), these are my initial observations, reactions, and opinions: - It is nicely designed and easy to handle - Very easy to fill the generously sized hopper (this has been one of my biggest complaints with other grinders; either they hold too little or are too difficult to refill, or both) - Has a very powerful motor for fast grinding. Great if you need to grind a lot of pepper for a recipe. - Easy to adjust the grind. Haven't used it enough yet to determine if the grind sizes are fine or coarse enough, but initial impression is good - The motor seems as though it is strong enough to actually grind hard peppercorns or coarse salt. - The blue LED seems as though it may actually be useful, although I haven't used it enough yet to really tell, but it looks cool. I do wish the light was white instead of blue, but I can live with it. I just hope the light doesn't drain the batteries too quickly. - The gravity feed seems to work well, so it is easy to operate - Hopefully the AAA batteries will last a while, but this is a minor issue. I buy my batteries in bulk, so cost is not a major concern.The bottom line is that I believe I have finally found the pepper grinder I have spent years and lots of dollars looking for. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.Additionally, I am an Amazon Prime member; I purchased the grinder at 11:30 AM and received it by 5:15 PM the same day, so couldn't be happier with the delivery. Amazon is pretty amazing in their ability to do that. I'm lucky that Indianapolis is one of their hub cities. (Can't wait to receive a delivery via drone one day.)

Things I like are the ease of use, and especially the ease with which you load peppercorns into the hopper. Others I've owned have the drive shaft to the cutters going through the small hole you load through, making it a very difficult task. This one loads easy. It also adjusts for a course grind, which I like. The last one I had didn't adjust at all.What I don't care for is that it won't work with rechargeable batteries. They have lower voltage and lower current capacity than alkaline, which doesn't cause a problem with most devices. But with this grinder it comes to a sudden halt after a second or two with rechargeable. I've used nothing but rechargeable for at least ten years, now I'll have to keep alkaline batteries on hand for this. It's a minor issue, but enough that I took away one star.

We DO have an electrical engineer in the house who is very strong - and he had a hard time opening for battery installation "Hold the metal band while turning counter-clockwise," we knew that but were still worried about breaking it.Edit: We did finally get it open, but it wasn't easy. The clear acrylic container should be facing down, and the "Home Kitchen Star" label will be right side-up while holding metal band and turning counter-clockwise. Once opened, it is no problem opening again. Now to give it a try!Update - I really like this pepper mill. Having some issues with adjusting coarseness, but overall it does what it says it will do! It is very handy and fast, which is great since I make a nighttime health drink every night before bed that uses pepper!

Just what I was looking forWe've had all kinds of pepper mills. The Turkish coffee grinder we've been using for the last couple of years looks cool and works well, but if you we're doing something like making a rub where you needed a whole tablespoon of pepper the grinding got a little tedious. With the Gravity Grinder, 15 seconds and done. While it's attractive enough to put on the table I think it will stay in the kitchen for when I need LOTS of pepper. It will be interesting to see how long the batteries last but I already have spares set aside.

Also, it is a kick for me to sit across from my sweetheart and watch her chuckle at the thing whizzes and lights up to dispenses the perfect grind."

This product is easy to set.up...I don't think we used the instructions that came with it because it was simple. I like the fact that it runs as soon as you tip it over, and the size is just right for storage in our spice cabinet. No mess like the grinders that grind from the bottom. The light isn't necessary but it's a nice feature. Over all, I think this will last a longer time than our previous set, that was bought on an overseas trip. And the settings for coarseness are very good. The price was hugher than what we wanted to spend but we thought we'd rather pay extra for a high quality products, and this is really high quality.

WARNING: Product only lasted two months then it stopped working altogether. Changed out all six AAA batteries but still didn't work. Batteries were properly installed because the blue indicator lights illuminate, but it won't grind the pepper balls. Also, cleaned out grinder but nothing was jammed in it. Guessing the cheap motor just stopped working. Too late to return so I'm upset.
