Anjali added a touch of leftfield credibility to the Established Wiija roster with her debut album. The self-proclaimed "Voodoo Queen" successfully manipulated and fused a diverse range of musical and cultural influences, from hip hop in "Ju Ju" to Bollywood in "Maharani 1" and created a hybridised sound very much her own, trade-marking each track, with touches of slick production and organic (Eastern) instrumentation as she went. It would be easy to over enthuse about Anjali's musically descriptive style. However it is best left to two songs directly opposed in pace, to highlight her range and approach best. The first "Feline Woman" is a dance floor shaker, with heavy breaks and killer flute line. "Astra" on the opposing side, is a haunting, cinematic ballad with spellbinding strings and an equally enchanting vocal. Both very different, but both examples of her wonderfully bewitching ways. --Found Sounds
