The copper tip has been plated with iron and then coated with nickel to give a very long soldering life when compared with other tips. The tip is suitable for use with lead-free solders. They tip uses an internal metal shim for fixing. This shim gives better heat transfer and also makes the tip easier to change if a replacement is needed.
