Great Reading!
"The Global-Investor Book of Investing Rules" is like going to a cocktail party with 150 prominent investment authors and analysts and pumping them for information. We get to hear from Bob Prechter, Marc Faber (a/k/a "Dr. Doom"), Paul Wilmott, and many others. The multiplicity of approaches is excellent: some of the subjects are stock investors, others concentrate on commodities; some use technical analysis, others are fundamentalists. Dr. Faber's one point of advice is one of the best that I have ever read in a financial book: he suggests that consumption of wealth is always an option--buy a good book, go out to dinner with family and friends. It is a shame that such a wonderful book is already out of print, but luckily you can buy a used copy very cheap. It's a bargain!

Breadth is its strength
A very good wide ranging spread of differnt views and different markets. What is particularly valuable is the Analysts describing the drivers and dynamics of their sectors. I would suggest a book comprising analysts giving this kind of outline for each sector and industry would be a very valuable resurce [note, not the outlook for nect year, but the dynamics and drivers].

this book although written in 2002 has the best info i have came across
this book although written in 2002 has the best info i have came across, it has 2 pages of say 10 questions and answers by famous and not so famous professional fund managers, traders.no mention of buffett, woodford, which is great etc,i have highlighted certain pages and changed my investing/trading to suit it, it does state if you agree with every manager, you are obviously investing/trading wrongly.buy this book, forget all the rest ever, 50 yrs of investing summed all, all you need to do now is a, find the stocks or funds, b, decide if we are in a bull or bear market, c, decide your time frame and risk adversion., d, work out if you are a run of the mill joe blogs, or a whizz kid, high risk trader.!. my top tips are buy only stocks going up, forget p/e ratios, its future cash flow that counts!!!!, tech stocks must have new products every say 3 yrs by same company, biotech, mega risky, buy only large stocks, buy the story, sell the news, buy stocks before the general public finds out about them, make sure they are very interesting compnaies, dont buy stocks with both no earnings and revenue, only revenue is fine, you need large capital to be a trader, cut losses fast, run and run winners, smalll postions each, hence large capital,if bear market, dont own any stocks at all, if bull market, buy stocks that are still growing earnings, dont overpay, but not buffett value though, thats yesteryear investing, big great stocks can still grow faster than small stocks!!!what a superb book, i got mines for pennies, ex usa library book, and a rare book it is.

Entertaining but not essential
This book is a pleasant addition to your investment library. It is not one of your "essential,must-read" books and so cannot have five stars. There are opinions from every corner of the investing universe and as such has some interesting observations and aphorisms. After some of the other tomes I have waded through its a little light relief. Overall its a worthwhile read with good advice. I would recommend its purchase.

Interesting, useful, entertaining and helpful
First of all I'm not a professional of investments. I just like to have some savings in the stock market rather than "stuck" in a savings account. In investments there are no black and while rules but there are a lot of gray scales, intuition and opinions. In this book you will find a lot of useful opinions which may help you to improve your investment strategies. Maybe not a "must-be-read" book but a book written for everyone (you don't need to be an economist to understand it). Also very easy to read as the opinions are like short stories written independently.

Useful
An interesting read of a number of articles written from many perspectives, but appears to be mostly 10 years old so not covering events 2008 on...

Good book from an historical perspective...
As a stand alone book this is a great buy, but from an historical perspective. It really is a collection of anecdotes and wisdoms from traders and investors involved in the stock market of yesteryear, rather than a book that has focus on current market strategy. If you are involved in the markets as a private investor, looking for direction and or inspiration alone, then perhaps this book is not for you. Some of the advice does not stand up to scrutiny in today's world of instant trading afforded investors by the internet. However, the book does provide excellent historical insight, and good advice will always stand scrutiny. For that reason alone, it is a recommend.
