Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
Typical thriller by Tom Clancy highly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Three Stars
Described as Very Good but as best only fair. Cover bent, folded over and quite well worn

Surprisingly good
Clamouring, I must admit, for what looks likely to be the first really decent Splinter Cell game in the forthcoming Conviction, I ordered this to partake of some of its promising Washingtonian espionage and adventure before the game is (at last) released. Well, despite the monument behind the rather more human-looking Fisher on the cover, it is light on DC and any 24ish geopolitical thrills. Instead of a sweeping thriller it's a very focused, narrow, rollicking ride - not the choice of direction I expected, but a good choice in the end. It's surprisingly good for a tie-in - in fact, dare I say it, one of the better-written genre books of the past year.

Not much connection to the game
A word of warning to those expecting this to be a novelisation of the video game (as I did, since it has the game's name and cover art all over it) - it ain't. Having said that, it's a decent enough story in itself.I did keep wondering how much Apple paid to have Fisher constantly checking his iPhone.

My Husband was delighted
I bought several Tom Clancy books for my husband this Christmas, as he is a big fan of the books. He was delighted to receive so many and started reading straight away. Excellent condition and at a good price - the books arrived before the estimated date. Happy days.
