Troublesome at best
The quality of the video is great, however, this device is prone to being glitchy. Around two or three times a month the internal buzzer comes on CONTINUOUSLY for no apparent reason. (I don't have any alarm features set and have confirmed this). When this problem occurs, the unit malfunctions and defaults back to 8-camera display and none of the front panel buttons will silence the tone nor will they allow the user to change display modes. (All buttons and controls LOCK-UP AND are ignored.) You have to briefly disconnect power and then re-connect it in order to stop the warning tone in order to return the unit to regular operation. The other problem is with the IR remote. It seems to be of low quality (cheap) design and often requires the user to press the desired button with great force and/or multiple times in order for the remote to function.Another anomaly that suggests a lack of planning and consideration in this design concerns the time display on the screen. When you switch views to a single camera, only the rolling seconds appear on the view. You have to wait for the next minute to elapse and "click over" before the MINUTES portion of the current time appears. You then need to wait for the next HOUR to "click over" before the hours portion of the live time to shows up and the same is true for the DATE to portion. If you wait until midnight passes, then you get that portion on the screen. This isn't a big deal, but as a retired software engineer, I clearly recognize this as a design fault and a shortcoming of not adequately programming the operating software for this product.Visual quality is great but overall performance is significantly lacking and I wouldn't recommend or re-purchase this particular product.
