As an Asian American, I grew up in two worlds. We had rice every night after piano lessons and Chinese school. My mother fed all 5 of our mouths with bamboo and ivory chopsticks. When I grew up and had a Silicon Valley house of my own, I started glancing through "home" magazines. I was inspired to match the tableware, linens and our antique silver tea set. I sought out silver colored chopsticks that would sit nicely next to our western fork and knife. I soon found out that stainless steel was in danger of corroding. The last thing I wanted was for my guests to have a bad taste in their mouth! Solution? My friend in China introduced me to the metal called titanium! Once she found the perfect titanium chopstick, I had her make the chopsticks in three traditional shapes: rounded, square and flat. All either have etchings and/or engravings. For instance I had the Chinese characters for family on my square chopsticks. This particular pair has a sleek looking crane - a popular mold. I hope your dinner guests will compliment your fine taste in dinnerware - both American and Asian!
