Product description Texfire's rounded multi-layered flame retardant carpet (47"x19" / 120x50 cm) protects the floor from sparks, embers, ashes, or incandescent material coming from barbecues, grills, heaters, or chimneys. This fireproof mat is designed with multi-layered technology, in order to retain the firing material and avoid that the temperature crosses the carpet and may damage the floor. This carpet has been tested in accordance to official regulations ISO 15025 (A1-A2 flame spreading) and EN 20811 (Resistance to water penetration). It is recommended to use it with the bright side upwards: this side contains an HT flame retardant silicone coating that traps ambers or incandescent materials. The carpet plush side is placed in contact with the floor, acting as a thermal barrier and impeeding that the heat crosses the carpet and damages the floor. Thanks to its multilayer composition, the best levels of protection and thermal insulation are achieved with a thin carpet. Suitable to protect every type of floors: wood, tiles, parquet, etc. Texfire's floor protector is totally impermeable and asbestos-free. It is easily cleaned with a wet cloth. It is recommended to take the incandescent material off the carpet as soon as it cools down or as soon as possible in order to extend the product's useful life and avoid the temperature that may cross the fabric in extreme cases. Never leave a barbecue, heater, or any kind of fire unattended. {Hoping it’s better
This is my second project from the same company. I’m hoping this one lasts a bit longer. I have no doubt it is fireproof. But what is a little annoying when you spill fluids on it The problem separates. Are used my last one for two days and it totally fell to bits and ripped. Possibly one of the worst products I’ve ever bought from Amazon. I’m just hoping it was a one off and this one actually works. If not it’s going back

Not really a hearth mat.....
I'm sure this will be fireproof but it's not really a mat more of a pad. In fact the label on the back says 'welding pad'. My wife hates it even though in might well save our carpet.However despite this I could live with it if it wasn't sticky! It has a sort of tackiness that mean any hairs or bits of dust and grass stick to it and prove a real pain to remove. Can't say I'd recommend this as a household item.

Picture and dimensions are not the size of the rug.
Dimensions are not correct. This item should be half as wide as it is in length all but 10mm.It's not exactly the size that it claims. Very thin, and more like an animal rug than a fire rug.The picture does not show the correct size of this rug.

I bought this to protect floor which is susceptible to hot ash so pleased to be able to make purchase.

It works but because the underlayer id soft its very slippery on our wooden floor and plastic side up it really looks a bit.. cheapish. Still getting 4 stars as it does the job and its not expensive
