Gentle and eloquent, bold and resolute, lucid and clear - that is how I would describe this book that challenges many assumptions of the modern man today. G. Eaton knows the the Western world inside out and clearly identifies the cracks that have started to appear a long time ago threatening to reduce the whole edifice known as modern civilization into a pile of rubble if proper action is not taken. Yet, the loss of the idea and role of man as the viceroy of God on earth, the abandonment of this task and privilege, argues Eaton, is the main the cause of all troubles we see today, individual and collective.I don't think there are many that can explain with the ease and eloquence that Eaton does the questions, issues, and challenges that haunt us. Highly recommend it!

Very thought provoking book that makes you think about life in general and how we must question our assumptions and status quo behaviour

I am very biased towards Gai Eaton. The wonderful prose, the clarity of vision, the incredibly quotable passages and the timelessness of his books makes me come back to this book again and again. I highly recommend.

A comprehensive critique of the modern world written from vantage point of traditional values. Every chapter has insights to offer that it then develops with great care and scholarship.

Charles Le Gai Eaton is one of the most intelligent, lucid, eloquent authors I have had the pleasure to read. Full of wisdom and insight into just about everything.
