A few years ago I was bought Emilie Simon's 'Big Machine' and really enjoyed it. On a whim I bought 'Végétal' and it has immediately gone to the top of my playlist. A really interesting and engaging album. Very good buy.

Many of the same songs as the Flower Book, but actually less enjoyable than that album.

A) Buy this CD and anything else you can get your hands on by Emile Simon.B) Why isn't this woman better known outside France? She deserves to be an international success. At its best her work stands to shoulder to shoulder with the blessed Kate (Bush) - think The Big Sky and Running Up That Hill - yes she is really that good.

When I first heard Emilie Simon's single, "Le Fleur de Saison," I immediately knew that I had to know more about this artist and listen to more of her songs. I've listened to 2 of her albums...at first i was mixed about her sound, but now I just love it. Many people are noting how she's apparently influenced by Bjork, and indeed, you can tell she was and puts that "Bjorkesque" sound into her music, while still having her own unique musical abilitiy to shine through. What intrigues me about Emilie Simon's albums is how it seems as if she's still exploring her musical horizons through the English and the French language, which makes it even more fascinating to listen to her music! Thank God she has credibility in the USA and is slowly getting into the American music business...she's just a breath of fresh air. She seems so comfortable and in tune with singing english and french, being unique and quirky, but yet still marketable. I can't wait to see more from Emilie Simon!

Insipid pop. I like her other records but this one is very dull and without feeling.

This album is one of the most unique albums released in the 00s. It absolutely stands on its own and is a very stylish display of Emilie Simon's very strong artistic muscle. Its simply a "must have" for those of you who truly appreciate music as an art form. With very few "pop" moments (I say that since it was marketed as "pop album" just know that it isn't anything of the sort (much comparable to Bjork's Vespertine) it is musically abstract and is a wonderful example of the modern day "singer/songwriter".Tracks to sample: En Cendres, My Old Friend, In The Lake, Annie, Dame de Lotus and Rose Hybridge de The... definitely worth buying!

Émilie Simon has been one of those lucky finds that i just accidentally stumbled across. This is a stunning example of her talent. Every single song on this album is beyond incredible. The lyrics are beautiful and the beats are original and could only work for someone like her. This album is a hidden gem and i would love to see more of Émilie in the US. Émilie is one of my inspirations and i hope that if i ever get a chance to create my own album i will be able to create mysterious and intense music like her. J'adore elle!!

Oh My God ! Awesome ! I'm a french fan of Emilie Simon, and all what she done, do, or will do. She's the most complete artist I ever know ! She sing, write, compose, performe all sound and produce her albums... The sound & Univer of Emilie Simon is unique ! She records some strange song, and put it beautifully into music... This is a real journey... Awesome lyrics too... I you like, Bjork or Goldfrapp or Imogen heap, GO GO GO !!!! Or if you like french touch... GO TOO :D You'll love it as me... (L)
