Supercharge Power BI: Power BI Is Better When You Learn to Write DAX

Compré este libro porque necesitaba aprender a usar Power BI por mi trabajo. Los ejemplos que se muestran en varios casos eran de problemas que yo mismo había tenido en otras aplicaciones y que no había aprendido a resolver.Este libro enseña el lenguaje con el que opera Power BI y como estructurar lo que se quiere mostrar, pero no enseña mucho sobre cómo hacer presentaciones "de impacto": en mi opinión lo primero es lo más difícil de entender y lo segundo lo más fácil de aprender, por lo que es un excelente punto de partida para quien quiera comenzar con Power bi.

Easy to read and understand. Great step by step examples and exercises. He tells you how to do things and better yet Why we need to.. He great pointers on good habits early that make it easier to succeed as we move into more complex situations, (real world that is). I wish I had this book when I first started learning. I find I went the long way around the barn because there was no DAX in my skillset. I recommend you take a good look at this one.

In this book, Matt does what he promises: he helps you to exploit Power BI potential through DAX.He goes over that: he gives you best practices of how to organize your data for Power BI and understand the (not easy) logic of how data are related in Power BI.However, it is not a free ride. As Mat warns in the book, you have to go back (often) to previous chapters to be able to apply successfully in your daily work the content of the book. It takes time (to me several months) but at the end you can show to your boss (or to your customer) the value that Power BI can bring in an organization.

I work for a large company that is implementing Power BI enterprise wide. The company offered "training" and the training wasn't anything special. I'm approximately 100 pages into this book so far (177 pages of instruction total) and this book teaches the true basics of DAX. The instruction is easy to follow and the author does a good job of explaining why he does things a certain way, which then build into additional lessons. If you are new to DAX or Power BI I recommend picking up this book. I plan to lend it to my coworkers once I'm done.

If you are new to Power Bi and are willing to do the exercises, this book is the best I've found. It is marked up with my personal notes as I've gone from chapter to chapter. I also downloaded the practice data that systematically advances you from one level to the next. In a short time, I am already creating some of the best reports in our company. I highly recommend it to the serious student.

Good foundational work on the way to make Power BI work for you.

I haven't actually used the manual yet, but upon first opening it, I see that the text and pictures are in large font and is easily readable even by me, who is swapping between bi-focals and reading glasses all day. HECK YES!!! All tech manuals should be this way!

This book is the perfect 'first book' for DAX. Not too complicated and everything is explained using simple examples to show the user how DAX works, cannot recommend this highly enough.

As a beginner, this book helped me learn, not only through the clear explanations of DAX, but from the examples and exercises.

Really clear, concise, but still to the point. Insist on fundamental concepts. The author does not hesitate to repeat key concept, from different angles. Best starting point before getting more serious with the definite guide to DAX.
