State do the Art

This is more than a book; it's an experience.
This is more than a book; it's an experience. When I first saw the price, I swooned, but ordered it from a neighbor library. After spending time with the book, it was a must have. When I think about what I spend the same amount of money on,like food, a bag of dog food, it rationalized it was well worth the money, and a book I will pass on to my children or grandchildren. Viewing the art in the book was a transforming experience, like a pilgrimage to holy land to view this Sacred Art. I felt while looking at it, an expanded sense of consciousness. These are rare images. They are special because of that, but also beyond that fact. They show a quality that art has when it's made with devotion, in a state of higher consciousness. This is not easily expressed in words. Perhaps, even, this state of consciousness is something that could not be conveyed in words, but needs to speak to us by bypassing our conscious minds using images, iconography, symbols, via visual art. I think this is necessary, like dreams or poetry, this holy art expressed by indigenous people, art from their religious culture. It's rare to view such a compilation. Where else would we see it? So thanks to the anonymous artist priests and the author who complied it. The book is anything by mainstream, filled with art done in many kinds of mediums, made by spiritual practitioners. For some, they must be religious disciples in order to /learn/make it, reach a certain level as a practitioner to be able to even learn that art, such as yantra making. Yantras (activated by Sanskrit mantras,) look similar to many Mandalas, but are not the same, and their use goes far beyond just meditation with them. I got this book it out of my library system, which actually ordered it for me from another library system and I kept it for as long as they would let me, now I own it. Of Ajit Mookerjee's other titles, this IMHO, is the best book the author has written, by far the best of his I have read. They were not all so well done. It's the real deal, no fluff. It will be money well spent.

An Xcellent book on the subject
Mookerjee really understands his subject. The relationship between the illustrations in this book and Mookerjee's descriptions/explanations is incredibly valuable to anyone interested in metaphysics (or anyone wanting an understanding of yoga's symbols). He certainly increased my understanding of the undepinning truths of the the system of yoga. The illustrations in the book are of good quality, large and plentiful. I would add the comment that many of them are rare - as in not seen in any other books on the subject.I highly reccomend this book for its insights and its presentation of the material.
