Eclipse Effect (14W x 21H x 11D in.) by artist David LeCheminant: Carved, Painted & Assembled Wood. Hues of Black, Charcoal, Pink, Red, Mustard Yellow, Purple, Burnished Wood. Style/Genre described as Modern Expressionism. Free-standing dimensional wood sculpture with black metal frame and base (in stock, available to ship worldwide.) David LeCheminant moves fluidly between creating free-standing and wall-mounted sculptures; between a more colorful palette to the austerity of a burnished, monochromatic finish recalling works by the late artist/sculptor Louise Nevelson. Drawing inspiration from abstract expressionism, cubism and constructivism, his work expresses ideas that can be purely formal or more narrative. In his own words, "I am a keen observer of my environment, be that cultural, political or physical. I note where these environments collide and use this as the basis for my work using the language of form to distill complex ideas into visual representations that are abstract and synthetic yet familiar. I typically work with wood, a material that is expressive, 'living' and inherently flawed. Whether from nature, former use, or tools, I leave imperfections as visual texture and a subtle reminder of our own natural and imperfect state. I have several different bodies of work in progress at the same time, allowing me to express myself in different ways simultaneously while keeping my creative process interesting and challenging." David creates is work in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
