Complete Works For Cello And Orchestra (Moser)

I'm not always sure what to make of Saint-Saëns; his piano concertos left me largely unimpressed, which also goes more or less for his symphonies. A version from the Jussen brothers of the Carnival des Animaux was underwhelming. Even so, when I came across this CD in the Düsseldorf branch of Saturn, one of the very few that still offer a healthy selection of classical CDs, for a mere 3,99 euros I snapped it up. And what a charming CD it is! Lovely works, lovingly performed by Moser with Frenchman Fabrice Bollon (who has done some sterling work for Naxos on Albéric Magnard) in excellent, if fairly low level, sound.
