Mutes very well, low profile.
Wow, the muting ability of this mute honestly surprised me when I put it on. It is extremely quiet, but retains the tone of the violin. It has a pretty low profile too, allowing you to see most of the bowing area between the bridge and fingerboard. The rubber coating also protects the bridge while keeping it snug.I use the mute in a small apartment room, and it cannot be heard in other rooms! It isn't too heavy, although it is definitely heavier than the full rubber types, since it is metal inside. This is my first metal mute, and it is leagues above normal small plastic mutes in terms of muting ability.
