    Neglected

*by C***Y on 6 September 2018*

I too bought this in 1969 at John Peel's urging (and foolishly offloaded it in 1976 at a junk shop on Cowley Road, Oxford, as it was no longer adjudged sufficiently cool for my carefully curated record collection). Thanks to Cherry Red for the reissue - I'm pleased to hear it again. Good songs, excellent guitar. Well sung, too, though it's perhaps Beau's voice that secured his ultimate anonymity - the voice is sweet and in tune and has an excellent range, but is somehow characterless and lacking 'edge'.

    A great album

I bought this when it first came out having heard in John Peel's Top Gear or maybe his Night Ride. When I went digital I never expected to hear it again. It was so good to hear 1917 Revolution again. The CD contains tracks that were not on the original vinyl. The Roses of Eyam (written for Roy Bailey) brought tears to my eyes. A very good musician. Its a pity has hasn't done a great deal more..

    An Echo From the Past

*by M***F on 7 October 2012*

I first bought this album on vinyl in 1968 after listening to 1917 Revolution on John Peel's programme. Peel said you should listen to the way Beau played his guitar so that the harmonics he generated sounded like a French horn playing along with him. My primitive record player didn't reveal that (at least not until much later when I could afford something more exotic, by which time the record was worn from being played a million times....). I loved the song for which I had bought the album, but there wasn't a dud amongst the rest. Thoughtful, intelligent and beautifully sung and played. I've looked for a long time on Amazon for a release on CD, but am delighted to see the original album and a lot of additional songs I'd never heard before are now available as downloads. I'll be listening to all of them....
