Great Purchase
Firstly this is a great smock and for the low price I paid I have no complaints but there are a few things that could be better. The sleeves, bizarrely short. The hood cannot be worn without a cap or it falls over your eyes. The underarm zips I find nearly impossible to open whilst wearing the smock. The kangaroo pouch doesn't have fleece on the external side where the backs of your hands would sit if you wish to keep them warm.PLUS points: the smock packs down pretty small and is fairly warm.Great sandy green colour, you will be fairly inconspicuous in most terrains without wearing camo.Fantastic pockets, I used to own a montane extreme smock (far too warm/far too big to pack) and I only now realise how great the smock pockets are. You can also fit your rucksack belt through the kangaroo pocket if you still want to get your hands in there. The warmth of the smock seems a good balance between keeping the cold at bay but allowing you to remain active though I have yet to march uphill with a pack on my back. That said you are going to get a draught up those too short sleeves. All in all happy with this one :)

order a size larger
If you read the discription you will have no problemsorder a size larger than you would normalythe top is showerproof and very warm because it is wind proof, folds up very smallvery good value as some of the branded ones are four times the price withvery little difference in performance.over all a great piece of kit.

ronseal job, exactly what it said on the tin
just what I was looking for. basically a light weight fleece with pertex style outer. Same principle to buffalo but a summer version. Works really well to keep off wind and allows breathability. Have yet to try on the hill but I can see this being a standard in my rucksack, would be ideal if moving quite fast as my montane smock often too warm, could also work well on the bike. Fit is really good for me, slightly short sleeves but that is a problem I often have.Good pockets as per my montane smock and pit zips offer further ventilation opportunities. Looks good quality but will see how it fairs.

excellent condition and performance
Used during several days camping and walking in the Lake District in September. Cosy and comfortable from throwing on for that early morning brew until relaxing after a hard day in the hills. The condition of the garment was first-rate. The velcro showed no sign of wear and there was no damage to the fabric. Easy to put on and zip-up even in a tent. The front pocket was ideal for carrying items round the camp-site. Coped easily with the cold, windy conditions. Sleeves were the right length for me with adjustable cuffs. Heading out, the shirt was comfortable under a rucksack and a good barrier against the strengthening wind as approached the valley sides. As height was achieved the shirt still dealt effectively with the cold, windy conditions and only needed to be supplemented with a coat when the top of the range was reached. A supple, effective garment for all-day use in the mountains.

So many people are missing a trick here.
This top was designed for troops in Afghan and basically its a lightweight buffalo and in a nutshell it is a fantastic piece of kit. Easy to wear, easy to keep clean and easy to dry and best of all while vastly superior to all the civy Gucci kit (and I put my hand up to owning such) it (even brand new) is cheaper than its civy counter parts and as per usual the army no longer fields them. Just what is it with the army and getting rid of good kit. However I digress. The top is a slip on, it has a wee roll up (And useless) hood which tucks into the collar. a kangaroo pouch up front and two side pockets. under the arms are two zipped vents. The inside is a lightweight fleece. The one I received off of here was second hand , but in very good nick. If like me you enjoy going out into the hills you won't go wrong with getting one of these.

Premium quality Smock
This is a superb piece of kit, well designed and comfortable with a great fit.The packing looked a bit shoddy and my smock was stained in a number of places and I think this should have been dealt with before sale by the seller.Warm soapy water removed the stains without a problem and this smock will dry out quickly once washed. The quality and feel of the fleece lining is very good as is the ripstop outer. Adjusting the velcro on the sleeves and side adjusters is easy and totally seals out draughts and the high collar with drawcord is very functional. A concealed windproof hood stashed away in the collar is of a decent fit and a useful bonus that tops off this well priced and exceptionally well made garment.
