Friedland Response CA6 Large Heavy Duty Dummy CCTV Camera

This was just the ticket to place outside the main entrance to my block of flats after I suffered a break-in. The Friedland Response CA6 is a large Dummy CCTV camera based on the working model by the same manufacturer.By all intents and purposes it is exactly the same as its working sibling, except that it has no guts or electrical innards and all you get is the metal casing of the camera, wall bracket and wires.The camera comes complete with fixing instructions and all the fixings needed to mount it securely to your desired wall, and as long as you have a decent drill, putting it in place takes minutes. You simply need to drill four holes and tighten a few nuts.Once in place the camera looks very convincing and given its size and appearance, quite menacing too. If I were a thief this would seriously give me pause for thought before committing a crime.The camera's body is fully poseable and tiltable in all directions, meaning it has a good range of cover and comes complete with a few window stickers you can, if you choose to, place in the windows of your premises or front doors to further deter crooks.Coupled with a few of these  large CCTV signs , this camera has gone a long way to helping me feel more at ease in my home after the break-in, and making myself and other residents in my block of flats feel a lot more at ease in our homes.For the price, its a bargain and I'm very happy. It's perhaps a bit big for the average home owner, but placed outside my block of flats on a main city centre street it looks perfectly at home, and would suit a business, flats or garage. It's ideal and looks very convincing.

I bought this specifically for a camera project with a Raspberry Pi and the Raspberry Pi Camera. I got some perspex and plastic adjesive spacers for the pi to sit on. And bolted the pi camera on the plastic where the fake lens is on the dummy and it works great! You can even find custom cameras that work with the pi's camera port which come with different lenses and even a LED light. It is completely weatherproof. With a 1080p resulution and smooth framerate this makes a very cheap and very good value for money IP Camera, especially when coupled with night vision! With motion detection you can even set up email alerts or even alerts to your Smart Watch! In my case i have alerts working on my Pebble smart watch and you can also make a complete alarm system or even hook into your existing one. The possibilities are endless, it all depends on your skill and ability to learn. These projects have all been documented online! Just need patience...

Very convincing, however each camera only came with one-set of screws used to attach the camera to the stand and adjust the vertical tilt. The picture shows two-sets of screws being used. The camera seems sturdy enough with only one set of screws and I could probably find some replacement screws for the 2 remaining empty screw-holes but I thought it was worth mentioning. I bought three cameras and each one only came with one set.Also, for some reason the part of the stand that mounts to the wall doesn't have the hole as is shown in the picture. Again this means nothing to me but I thought it was worth mentioning.Apart from that, you will not be disappointed. As long as the wire routing is convincing then burglars will have no way to tell if this is a dummy or real camera. It also seems a lot bigger than it does in the pictures which is nice!I would recommend this.

Looks like the real thing can't be adapted to work like a real camera. I looks great wired to a power box with flashing led . Been asked a few times would I set one up for neighbours.

PRO good over all metal build with metal bracket.CON no flashing light function, have opened up thecamera to check this out.

As described . Well built, solid, hard to see from a few meters away whether it is a real camera or a dummy. Very satisfied.

We are very pleased with these cameras, they definitely do what they are supposed to do. They look as real as some of the CCTV cameras that you see in the town centres. I would certainly recommend these cameras to anyone who wants a deterrent on their property, which looks so real.
