Hats: Making Classic Hats and Headpieces in Fabric, Felt and Straw

Like the other reviewers, I do love this book. It has some brilliant ideas and there are simple instructions followed up with photos of how to do it. BUT, to make the hats you need hat blocks. These range from £50 to £80 a piece. Then there is the brim block and the materials. Please be aware. All the hats are made from scratch using hat blocks. Great if you are on a millinery course and you have access to them. Not good if you are at home - as far as I am aware, no one hires them out. Still love the book.

This book is wonderful, gives lots of great tips and explains things exceptionally well. Its easy to follow and practical. Yes, you do need millinery blocks to undertake the projects and these aren't cheap - but worth every penny. Sarah has a very hands on approach throughout the book which is always helpful. The projects are well written and offer a number of different variations you can make to the actual project. This book is an instant favourite.

It's ok.the main coolie hat (on the front cover) is too good!obviously one has to put ones best product on the front cover.alas, the other designs fail to meet my personal expectations which were based on the cover!the instructions are easy to follow.ok designs., if you know how to make hats i'm sure you would be able to customise the designs but then you wouldn't really need this book...postage, packaging and dispatch all fine.
